It might not be in your opinion correct but it works and doesnt put the oil filter miles out from the engine

I never suggested using a sandwich plate anyway
read how i do it,
but most people don,t start worring about pressure+ temp until they have tuned it ,so by that time they should be fitting an oil cooler ,so you have a sandwich plate anyway

Might be cheaper to make your own but found this on tweaks.

I'm guessing you would need to bleed it somehow?

Where is a good place to get oil temp? Don't fancy taking the sump off.

Yes but your simply replacing the old exchanger with the sandwich plate

I once had the pleasure of doing a filter change on a car with 2 sadwich plates it was a right cunt cause my filter socket couldnt be use ended up having to punch a hole in it and make a right mess

Ive looked at running out the block it puts oil lines very close to the manifold id be nervous about that tbh

Only saxo vts has the oil/water heat exchanger ,never fitted to the 106
I would dump that anyway if fitting an oil cooler --no need for it
as for the oil line running close to manifold ,
not so if you use a banjo -as it sends the line tight to the block across to the gearbox side then up to scuttle to switch or sensor
and if you consider it a worry easy to heat wrap a braided brake hose size of pipe

that will stick out too far and make it close to manifold
the banjo type set-up sits much lower to block than std switch
