really annoying blue screen on xp!!!!
hey i have looked everywhere to find a solution but cant find one... i have a incar computor ( hp ) with xp in it and for some strange reason i got the blue screen error page. no matter what mode i start up in safe mode ect it wont start up it will just go to the blue screen.. so i put a xp disk in to boot from but the computor wont boot from the disk. i have set it so it boots from the disk first and it still wont do it!! i am using a usb mouse and keyboard.. has anybody got any way of sorting this mess out??

Open it up, disconnect all wires and reconnect them again making sure they're all tight and see if that helps.

you changed a driver recently? Or installed XP as a fresh onto a machine with uncommon hardware?
Boot to safe mode and see if it lets you in.

Alright mate, i build and repair PC's in my spare time, this is quite common and basically means a critical system file is damaged or missing meaning it is Windows and not somthing you have installed or a piece of hardware.
You have 2 options really
1. Try a repair install which involves re-installing the main Windows System files and drivers, which is alot of hassle.
2. Completely re-install windows, backup everything you need on to a disc or external hard drive and again using your windows disc delete your current partition on your harddrive and re-install from fresh.
Since your computer is a HP and not custom built it will be a little more complicated, PM me if you need anymore help mate
Ross.

Im in the I.T. industry, Ross is right. There is a missing or corrupt file, only 2 things you can do is what he has suggested.
1. Boot up with the Windows CD and follow the prompts to "Repair a Windows Installation" (which, Ross, is not a lot of hassle, it just copies back over the root system files, only hassle is if you have a slow optical drive to read from)
OR
2. Reinstall the O/S completely. AFTER backing everything up that you wish to keep.
Ross, how would reinstalling an HP system be more complicated than a custom built one? The HP branded version of windows has all the HP drivers incorporated into it, so it shouldnt be a problem at all. Not that I'm a fan of "Branded" O/S like Dell or Acer or anything.
If your copy of Windows XP you have on disc isnt your own legit HP branded one, you'll more than likely run into trouble with device drivers and the like. For that you will have to access the interwebz and get them manually.

stick the Hard Disc into another working pc and copy everything over that u want, then format the hard disc and put it back in,
then boot from the cd and reinstall windows, that might be your only way if its not playing ball at all.
