What exactly are you trying to do with it? It's not stereo blutooth so you cant just connect to another phone and transfer files for example.

iphone sucks it cant do that but theres alot of apps about that allow othe ways of transfering stuff

You dont need bluetooth, songs, pictures, videos can all be downloaded from the web, or if you have to off a PC / laptop.

Seeing as this is kinda related... Does anyone know how to use a bluetooth headset on the iphone? I can't get it to sync!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

if you jailbreak the phone you can download an app that allows you to send recieve pics music videos ect via bluetooth.

Tethering on the iPhone I similar to having an Internet dongle,
you have to pay an extra monthly bill on top of what you have

also whats with this using iphone as a wireless dongle, this could come handy as im taking my laptop to college.
