You do realise the difference in speed is less than 1mph?

Very wrong.
Diesel
1st - 3.636
2nd - 1.95
3rd - 1.276
4th - 1.026
5th - .767
FD - 3.765
VTR
1st - 3.471
2nd - 1.81
3rd - 1.276
4th - 1.026
5th - .767
FD - 3.765
Your tyre is roughly 22" total at a guess, and you can't rev past 5000rpm in a 1.5D under load.
So with the diesl box that's 24 and 45 mph in first and second.
VTR box would give you 25 and 48 mph

IF it revved to say, 6500 then yeah it might be worth it.
low limiter makes it pointless
Man up and fit a 1.1 gear box. It's economical enough. it would only be 3500rpm at 70

Get the 3 speed Auto from a 106 XL
Ratios on that are very long.
Can't beat the 3 speed auto in my XJ-S though. 45 in 1st, 110 in second and 140+ in 3rd lol. Really need to finish it

Diesel box same as furio?
I had a mate who had wound the pump up on his 1.5D saxo and the roof lining was stained black from the smoke coming into the cabin. Wasnt that quick either!

Yes, identical to a furio/106 quikky box
winding the pump out is for twats, totally useless unless you intend on injecting NOS. in which case you can only go as far as 90HP before the clutch slips.

Standard is slightly faster than a 1.1 up to about 80mph, then it's out of puff.

On the speedo if you just planted your foot it would run to about 105 so maybe was a nudge quicker.

Here's an update,
Well my old Saxo 1.0 that i bought 3 years ago off SamW off here has gone to Saxo heaven, it had been a brilliant little car and served me very well but the rust had got far too bad:
Scrapped it yesterday for £100 which my brother was pleased with.
Anyway I salvaged the plain door cards from the Saxo to remove my flowery pattern, removed the doorcard and bolted on the bracket for the doorcard:
Matches the interior very good
I need some Saxo winders since the 106 ones are too long and scrape off the plastic.
Also had to place a screw here to secure the doorcard, it's not perfect but it's either that or the doorcard hanging off
I debadged the rear:
Took a few pics:
I love this car it drives so well. It's come a long way from the unloved farm yard vehicle I bought, hope people like it thanks for looking.
