Is the bulb single pole or double pole? I would suspect that it would be double pole, try turning the bulb around by 180 degrees (i.e take the bulb out so that the opposite lugs fit opposite to where they were originally fitted). When you disconnect the bulb notice that the lugs are at different levels, this may be the cause of the problem.

After having the exact same problem & having changed the fuse twice traced the fault on my Saxo too a loose bulb holder on the high level brake light.I had a spare unit so swapped it & alls well.
Steve.

Hi,
You have put the bulb in the wrong way around. It has two bayonets that are offset, try spinning the bulb 180 degrees and put it back in.
Oops, didn't see that Grumpypants has already given you this advice! Top fella!

Now now BobC !!! enough of this levity !!!! This is quite a serious matter and you can quite obviously see the lads in some sort of distress. Back to the problem. Once again look at the bulb and look at the lobes or connector pads at the bottom of the bulb. If the bulb is a used one these have a tendency to wear away, they should be fairly prominant and sound. Failing this I suspect a sort of earthing problem.
