Default hispec,

going to be getting some hispecs shortly,

whats my best options,... buy a kit like so...

http://www.bigbrakes4u.co.uk/spec-bi...ont-p-441.html

or

http://www.bigbrakes4u.co.uk/spec-bi...ont-p-484.html

or buy calipers and brackets direct from hispecs, then buy my own disks and pads ect?

what pads do they take and what disks do they take ect?

am going to autosport internatinal on sat so may get some there as there a couple stands selling them including hispecs them self. just wondering best way to go, so people that have them... what pads disks do you run with these any common proplems ect?

volvo 240/480.

Quite a few pads around but still not the greatest line up if you desperately want a set of pagids without some 'work' for example

There should be a pad pricelist on hispecs site as a pdf on items like the EBC pads.

most people run the single piece discs.

Ive got a set of both as they came with the kit i bought.

Ok so the two piece discs are meant to dissapate heat better and have a bit less unsprung weight, but I doubt most saxo owners would notice the difference for the extra £££.

Before the VAT increase you were looking at 75+vat iirc for each bell and then each rotor. Ok the Bells are reusable but just incase you ever needed a new one.

Like Ryan said best to get a set 2nd hand can save alot of money.
I got a brand new set of hispec with discs, pads and braided lines for £400. Just got to keep checking for sale sections.

the only thing to check is if buying second hand that they have not been left with the very old lines. Most were changed but a few may still exist of the longer 17.5" which rub, they were changed to shorter 14.5" ones.

What about a Wilwood midilite kit?

As for pads, how psycho are you on the brakes?

Wouldn't it be great if a trader or car mag could bring together a host of brake pads and do a group test...

from what i have seen hi specs a little while ago more heard of/ popular then willwood's so everyone jumped on the band wagon... Now theres more hi specs on the used market gonig cheaper then wilwood's people are still buying used hi specs.

the reason everyone used hi-spec over willwood was because the old mildlites didnt come with dust seals for the pistons.
