Did this yesterday, had quite a bit of play on the rod so adjusted it so it was solid but not over tightened. Brakes are now a lot better than before, accidently skidded when test driving as I had to put my foot down hard to stop before I adjusted it so wasn't used to it lol.

Just done mine..pedal travel was awful even after bleeding brakes.
Took the cover off and I found that I could waggle (technical procedure) it quite a bit..
Now much better..
Haynes manual is very sketchy regards this..just tells you to mark where it was when removing and replace in the same position..I'm sure they don't go into it in any more detail than that...though I'm open to offers of correction.

you dont really need pictures. Just look at the engine bay, towards the back drivers side theres a black cover, unclip that, then the 2 nuts are staring you in the face!

Might be a really dumb question..
Which is the locking nut and which is the adjusting nut ?
Is the one on the end of the rod the locking nut ? or is it the one on the inside nearest the master cylinder ?
...and what day is it..
..and how many fingers am I holding up...

Any chance someone could put the pics back up?
Not there, but might just not be working for me.
Cheers!

I've got to attack the car in the next couple of days, and my pedal is a bit sketchy so I'll put something together (I promise). Also there needs to be a few more clarifications and top tips to add to make sure you don't over adjust, getting it just perfect - oh and the photo's will be uploaded to the forum so it'll be permanent.
Should be done by the weekend peeps.

Tip for anyone doing this on there own, try to do it on a small incline so you can see if the car rolls OK after adjustment. Thankfully my drive banks down so its perfect.
Attached is a pic for anyone struggling, highlighted in red oval is the location of the black cover that needs to removed to access the brake adjustment bolt.

Just did this on my vts, noticed there was a quite a bit of play in the rod. Adjusted the nuts so that there is now very little play in the rod but my brakes don't seem to be much better. They are a little bit better but still aren't great.
I have a 266mm setup, would it be worthwhile for me to upgrade the master cylinder, and if so would I notice a 'big' difference when braking?
Cheers
Chewy

The 266mm are known to give a little bit more travel before biting. You can solve the lack of initial bite by using a bigger mc but it'll be at the expense of pushing harder on the pedal to get the same level of braking force.

Cheers, so you reckon that there is not much point upgrading the mc then mate?
