Knew it would work, they tend to fall again after 2-4 weeks but you could redo the heat treatment again!

Not sure, I've heard of issues from motherboard swaps, I'm an amateur but the heat treatment is something I've done to a few

As I said before, I had mine re-balled and a new GPU for £50 all in, and that was 3 years ago.
Totally saves fannying about with all this temporary heat gun pish. You're using the same type of solder, just re-flowing it. Each time you re-flow it, it gets more brittle. So it's a complete waste of time. The heat gun method - as far as I was aware - was only to enable users to back up data and remove discs. It was never intended to be a "fix".
Stick that in your fucking pipes!

I thought about a reball but even thats not a permanent fix so ive read. And id rather spend an extra 30 quid and get a slim which arent prone to this problem. Mines still working lol been on 11 hours 5 of them straight. I bought a cooler pad to hopefully keep it goin a bit longer. Ive had my 5pounds worth out of it already id say. Im thinkin about takin it to money spinners or bulmers see what they give. If its not a bad amount ill buy another ylod one and do same again.

Ahh well I had my reball done 3 years ago now
It is a permanent fix because they change the solder type if it's done properly.
Be wary of the power packs on some of the slim models, they overheat and stop working.

The laser diode went in my ps3 slim, that's what started me fixing the ylod for a mate lol. Had to pull apart my disc drive and replace the lasers and the track they slide up and what spins the disc. Then traded it in for a super slim!

Well the ps3 is still running fine after 2 weeks. except the fan comes on full now and then which gets a bit annoying. But for that price suppose cant complain. Had it on 5 hours straight no probs other night. Ill let ya know when it packs up if it ever does.

The ps3 finally gave up on me lol at the worst time. I went away for couple of days so decided to take that one incase got nicked. Im not surprised it went tho. was stayin in a cabin and fell asleep with ps and heating on after a few beers. Woke up to the ps flashing and about 50°c temp in the room haha. Noticed the motherboard was a bit warped when fixed it this time aswell.
