need help with what to upgrade standard speakers too
hi im new here but will soon be posting a short log on my saxo i have had for the past month, BUT ANYWAY.
i have this head unit : http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/pro..._id/16200.html which i will be instaling in a week or two, i was wondering what i should upgrade the standard speakers too or if i would see any benefit by doing so, i am thinking of picking up a small all-in-one sub, i dont really want anything obnoxiously loud just to sound better than the standard ones
thankyou in advance for any help you can give also would need help on a sub :O

Definitely get fronts amped and upgrade. I just have a set of jl coax and they sound good. People will probably recommend components

If you are wanting some cheap, better and easy to install speakers I would just go with some coaxial speakers. 13cm are the ones you want.
If you go onto car audio security website and have a look, anything jbl is pretty good for the money or alpine.
I wouldn't go with an all in one sub as they can be a bit under powered so you can't blow them. Again, car audio security do some good sub and amp packages - have a look at the 10" deals if you aren't wanting bass that blows you away! Jbl subs are spot on for what you pay, and I'm sure other people will agree that you could get any jbl sub and you wouldn't be disappointed.

if you're going to amp the front speakers up, buy components not coaxial's .
iv got a pair of front infinity components and sony xplod coaxial rearsa for sale if you're interested.

But only up front. There really isn't any worth in changing the rears as being so small they don't have a lot of impact. But if you do stick with the coaxials, don't bother amping, really isn't worth it.
However, if you have the budget and know how, some up front components with an amp is the way forward. But seems you are just after something a "bit" better which there is nothing wrong with.
Lastly i do have an JBL sub with an amp which is very good which you could buy. PM me

Crossovers don't work for coax's?
Coax's are used in situations where there is no space for a cross over and tweeter, coax's have a small tweeter and cross over built into them, you don't use crossovers and coax's.
if its a budget sound system, coax is the way to go, will sound just about as good, add the fact, that you could get the next level up of coax for the price of a budget comp set, and its pro ally on the same level. Add more pudding around for installation as well
Don't get me wrong, I love comp's, last set I had cost me £300 and I loved them, but if I was buying budget, I'd just get some coax
anyway, back on topic.
Speaker wise, I'd recomend getting the alpine type g stuff. Sound great running off a headunit, and take amps really well if you upgrade later. On the other hand, I wouldn't recomend the alpine type R range. Apart from the subs. Lol

just that everyone jumps on the wagon and says that coax's are shit compared to comps.
they aren't, i never said they were, but for a budget, simple to do, neater looking installation, especially something like a saxo or 106 where there isn't a great deal of space for crossovers,

is the extra £30, plus more pissing around with installation, really worth the tiny increase in hi notes you'd hear?
like i said, i love comps, i especially love an ear pearcing hi note,BUT FOR BUDGET, really worth spending more on comps? dont think so
can even get these for less than the comps,
http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/foca...s-130-ca1.html
arguably better, for cheaper, exactly the same frequency response, better sensitivity, which is what creates the volume, apart from not being able to put the tweeter where you want it,

Components are in another league. If they were just as good then there wouldn't be a market for components. Think about it. So to say coaxials are just as good components is just false info. that's all. I've already linked some coxials for him as he said he wasn't too bothered about them being brilliant basicly.

I don't think he meant they are as good as each other, just that coaxs would be more suited to this dude as he doesn't want the best sound quality money can buy, just a decent upgrade - which coaxs would do just fine.
It's like if I had a moped and wanted a bit of an upgrade you wouldn't suggest an R1 would you?
