Bear with me
This may sound like a thick question but i have a temp sensor cable tied next to the left side of my battery as you look at it. Between the engine and the battery.
I was just wondering whether its suposed to be there and what it is? It has a green plug

And while im at it, i take it that this is my coolant temp thingy, should it only have one wire coming from it?7

deffo a lamda and the wrong one at that
blue plug with the green sensor on it should both be blue
and the temp sensor differs over the years but i think your cars a later model so should be 2 wires if im thinking of the right one

looks like the guy who did a top end rebuild on the engine before i bought it was a bit of a thick shit.
So, just to clarify, what is the random sensor and where should it be?
As far as i know my model of car only has one lamda and thats plugged in properly although i do have a dodgy idling problem.
thoughts?

What reg is it on? EDIT: it doesn't matter as we can clearly see 2 lambda's lol.
2001+ had 2 lambda's.. 1 before the cat and 1 after.
When people de-cat their car - they sleeve the 2nd sensor so it reads clean air and thinks the cat is still in the system / doing it's job.
This keeps the engine management light off.. and many people do that until mot - pop the cat back in - then the 2nd sensor after it.

You say it like it's a big job lol
Does it have a catalytic converter in the exhaust?
(one of these under the car: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PEUGEOT-10...item231267fc6f)
Or is there one in the manifold?
It would fail a emission's test with no cat obviously. The engine management light could be something else.. but check to see if there is a cat under the car though.

yeh it does have a cat on it then i can see it under the car about handbrake level. So what on earth is that sensor for? my car is a 1999/2000 car btw so it wouldnt have a second lamda would it?
the idle is getting steadily worse to the point its bouncing 700 revs from cold in the morning

Hmm, is there a threaded hole for it in exhaust system?
Would be weird if the prev owner has sleeved the only sensor lol

no its just before the silencer by the looks, i may be judging distance wrong, its like:
-------(Cat)--(Silencer)-----------------------(BackBox)
Im staring to thing this random lamda could be the cause of my dodgy idle though because theres all sorts of stories of shit idles after decatting (i.e. losing a lamda)
Is it possible i have a two lamda engine with a one lamda mani?
