Default Aftermarket ECU Needed With Big Mods on NA Engine?

As title really, do we need an aftermarket ECU like an Omex etc with the following mods, or can the standard ECU cope with a remap?

I thought an aftermarket ECU was needed for things like a turbo, supercharger, carbs etc?

Mods:

Polished & ported head
Larger inlet valves (+1.5mm)
Larger inlet ports
Throttle bodies
BP285H or BP320 cams
Hard valve springs and solid lifters
Forged rods + arp bolts
Forged high comp pistons
Rev limiter at 8500
4-2-1 with decat and non res

With that spec it'd be best to use an aftermarket mappable ECU like DTA or OMEX.

How have you got the rev limiter to 8500rpm with a standard ecu and map?

I haven't, thats what we want the rev limiter at when we fit the new rods and pistons along with some other bits like the cams, throttle bodies, head etc.
Got all the bits almost ready to fit and don't want to find out we cant get it remapped until we get another ecu, wanted to make sure.

You dont set the limiter to 8.5k just like that, you set it just past where it makes power, if built properly itll be lower and if you want it to last itll be lower.

Wayne at Chip Wizards 'can' map the standard ECU for use with throttle bodies but in my opinion it would be a serious restriction and compromise not worth taking.

A standalone will be much more advanced and a safer, more comprehensive solution. As people always say, determine which ECU to use by asking what your chosen mapper prefers.

I know Sandy Brown who is probably the best NA mapper in the country for these engines likes to use the DTA S40.

ATSpeed have plenty of experience with Omex.

Northampton Motorsport- Emerald.

etc etc...
