Default Paint Chips...Paint Pen (What Code?!)...

Hi guys.

Thing is, I've got 3 or 4 small paint chips on my VTR. The bonnet area has obviously had a stone or 2 hit it over its 10/11 year life. All 3 chips are down to the metal beneath, or I wouldn't bother. They aren't massive, though they are noticeable. So, would a paint pen do the job?? And where would I find the exact paint code for the car to have a pen mixed for it? It's a MkII 'Zest' Yellow VTR.

Would just be nice to fill the chips so that they don't get bigger!

Cheers

Sam

The paint code is in the struts of the drivers door. Its on a sticker along with tyre pressure.

I was told that touch up pens aren't very good. They always seem to run and look crap.

When i had my car touched up, he gave me the left overs of the pr-mixed paint with lacquer. All i do is get a small detailing brush and build the paint up inside the chip then polish it off.

Thank you logic_guy, very helpful. Will try both of the ideas. I have spray paint in the exact colour in a tin BUT, of course, with no lacquer or primer then it just runs off. Will look into it! I wonder if there is a photo thread on this...?

Spray your spray paint into the cap of your tin then use a small artist brush to paint it on. Do the same with some primer. And to seal it all up you can get some 1k clear coat or just use some clear nail varnish. Seems silly to buy touch up pen's when you already have the aerosol that is a good match.
