Thanks JP. The car is really moving into that realm of where it's awkward for everyday road use. I'm moving house in a couple of months, and I won't need the car for work purposes anymore, so that will give the perfect opportunity to get some proper work done on it, and not having to worry about silly things etc...

Glad you like it Soulless. Some insurance companies are fairly flexible when it comes to modifications. When I called them up a previous time, I told them that I had fitted bucket seats, harnesses, stripped it out, fitted a big valve head, and also fitted bigger calipers and disks. They said to hang on one sec while they check... Less than a minute later, they said "No, that's fine, this won't effect your premium at all. You've already declared a lot of modifications, so any additional ones don't really matter..." LOL

Thanks Peejous, I'm glad you like it! (I think?) lol Yes mate, it's very light. I've got more weight loss plans coming shortly. I bought a fibreglass bonnet a while ago which I still haven't got round to fitting, and I've also just got a bespoke fibreglass panel to replace the sunroof. That will see some nice weight loss for the 'ol mota! Clarkson for prime minister!!

Cheers Foggy. The windows were fairly hassle free. I got help with the rear windows, as you can see the black edges they put on them for me. I never actually thought about painting the steel bit at the rear. To fit the front, I just placed them in the original seating positions, and then went around all the edges with silicone sealant. Goods a goodun.

Sorry to sound like an old man dude, but like....
surely plastic windows that could be pushed/melted/cut through makes it more of an insurance risk,
I hope you took a name of the person that said that any additional mods dont matter,
just incase of the worst happening.

Cracking motor though bud,
Hope to see it flying round a track sometime this year.

It's not a roof skin mate. It's simply a rectangular piece of fibreglass that will fit on top of the hole made by removing the sunroof. As soon it's in my hands I'll get some pics up so you can see what's what. You may want one yourself, you never know. Bic introduced me to a chap called Mervin who does all sorts of carbon fibre / fibreglass stuff for Saxo's etc, etc... He's taken over the Procomp stuff I believe. He charged me a nifty for the piece...

Soulless, don't fret dear boy, the mods have been declared, if they don't want to up my premium I'm not going to argue! Polycarbonate windows are actually a lot tougher than glass mate, so why should they be a security issue? OK, I've got some issues with the sliders at the front, but I was hardly going to describe the ins and outs of them to the insurance company. You don't sound like an old git, so don't worry mate. I'm the same, I always declare everything and don't take any risks.

Thanks Mikey! I was going to make a comment in your thread, but I didn't have anything nice to say about the 19" rims you had chopped. I really like the car though! Need some vids up to show off how that little thing performs!

Yea Bic/Melvin, they do that old Procomp stuff and more now I think. Still
prefer the idea of the whole roofskin but Im sure the small section will do the
job too.

The roofskin basically replaced the old one completely. CF obviously will cost!!

Yes mate, that's the dood. I'm not interested in replacing the whole roof skin just to fill up a hole! Just a tad overkill IMO, lol.

alright toad just read through the last few pages of your thread because i hadnt checked it for ages.

have you sorted out your breaking problems yet because my saxo is now doing the same since changed brake disks and pads all round.
im still running all the standard vtr brake setup front and rear like.

had the pads fitted at a local pug/citreon specialist and because the car was abit skitish on the brakes at anything above 40mph most the time in the dry and even worse in the wet i took the car back and made them check them but they couldnt find nothing wrong with them......

so now im scratching my head thinking what can it be??
its been like this for about 2 months now aswell

Sorry to hear you're selling up chap.

Thanks for the comments. I'll keep you all posted with the latest happenings. I've been spending most the weekend preparing my replacement sunroof panel.I picked it up yesterday from Mervin. Mervin is tha chap who's now taken over the old Procomp work. Bic has had a lot of stuff done from him. His business is called Streamline Carbon. Anyway, I've got a fibreglass sheet which will be replacing my sunroof. The sheet needed some finishing touches as I only asked Mervin for the minimum amount of work on the piece. But he came up trumps, it's spot on, just needs painting and lacquering... I'll be taking the sunroof and all the components around it out. This panel will literally sit on top of the hole left behind, and I will bond it to the roof. It should be fine... It's painted white to match most of the other stuff, as there's a bit of a white and silver theme going on at the moment. I'll fit this on Wednesday when I'm off work next.

Cheers Mark. What do mean about the rears?

Lee, I've haven't sorted my braking problem out.

I'm sorry to hear that you've got issues too now. Describe to me what's happeneing exactly? Does it pull to one side from higher speeds? I don't mind the skittishness so much, it's the pull to left when braking hard from 70+ mph that scares me half to death!

Oh wow, that's interesting! And the only thing you changed were the discs and pads? Hmm... You could do what I did and take it to a MOT testing station. They have rolling roads, which they use to test the braking efficiency. Mine checked out fine which didn't help! It would be interesting if yours does the same. It takes them no more than a couple of minutes to do, and the place I went to didn't charge me anything.
