I am guessing you mean before you colour code them. You shouldn't use anything courser than 320 on plastics or they will burr. personally i would rub them down with 320 and then 600 then primer fill then 600 wet and dry again.

Primer filler is a thick sort of primer that fills as well as primes.

Use primer filler instead of primer it gives a good base to flat down to a smooth surface with the 600 wet and dry.

We use to do them at work for 90 quid gloss black and about 130 for metallics if you stripped the panels off the car but my boss wont let us do them any more.

Bedford - I used to work in a wood spray shop and you could get 10%, 20%, 30%.... lacquer.
If i were to get my bump strips done professionally (I've not got round to doing it since my last thread lol) can i choose how much shine i want? IMHO, Halfords lacquer is very glossy, too glossy for my liking and would look naff.

I quite like 1200 wet paper between coats as it leaves a super smooth finish between each coat - but thats just me, not realy needng to go above 600 really
