engine transplant
there are so many threads about how to do it so i think that if someone is willing they should do a step by step. i would but i am onlky 15 so mi dont have a car to do it on. just an idea may free up some of the forum space

exacly good point there
when i was working in a garage i wanted to fit a xantia turbo to my saxo that was even before i had bought it now i know they wont fit without a lot of work

Im not having ago its just being realistic, over the next 2 years he should learn alot if he's positive.
Something like a vtr would be plenty for a first car, day i passed i hoped in my rallye and that frightened me.
There isnt a step by step for putting engines in mate, best bet is to find someone who can do it and watch them and gain advice/knowledge then.
+ you need some serious dollers worth of tools mate.
