Seanp06 - i think the eye brow covers re £22.99, i will check with Mervyn for you tomorrow, i dont seem to have them on my list.
Willsy - be much appreciated mate, going to Streamline this Friday again so going to bet taking your PM with me and a pic would be ideal, got to pic a cover up for someone else too
Dave 1 - You would need 5 people for the badboy bonnet, 2x2 twill is the pattern of carbon material weave, it gives the stripey finish, plain weave is just that, plain with no stirpe. Is that ok ?
many thanks
Bic

My_vtech_eater - Yes not a problem see below
Autoclaved 2x2 twill carbon fibre
wet lay plain weave carbon
Does that help explain it a bit better ?
Grantley1988 - There is currently not a standard fitment splitter available, although there are aftermarket larger carbon ones that I can get ?
Like this ?
With regard to door cards, which ones ? flat sheet or 3 peice moulded ?
Thanks
Bic

Whats the difference Bic between the Autoclaved 2x2 twill carbon fibre and
the wet lay plain weave carbon finish?
The Wet Ley Plain Weave looks a much better finish. If money isnt the main concern
would that be the moulds to go for?
Im still interested in your roof skins (without sunroof), if the fibre glass ones
would do the job I would ideally go for one of those to cut costs. But is fibre
glass more likely to get damaged or crack over the carbon fibre? Dont want
a leaking roof cause some twat leaned on my car in a years time for example lol.
One more question (sorry mate ), are the roof skins simple enough to fit. For
example should a skilled bodyshop be able to fit one with ease or do they take
some special skill to get a correct finish.
Sorry for the questions mate just want to make sure I dont buy something I
wont be happy with.

hard_corejoeboy - all carbon fibre bonnets based on OE design are £595 for wet lay product in either plain weave or 2x2 twill. i will check on Friday if they have the mk 2 without vents etc in. Pictures will come once i know this.
Rushy_23 - It is honestly your prefernce as to waht finish you think looks better, wet lay (wether plain or twill it doesnt matter0 will always turn out as a thicker and heavier panel because the amount of resin and gel coat that is required when using this method of production.
Roofskin wise, i can't really see the true benefit in going through the work involved and cost of removing and refitting a fibreglass skin (unless a true trakc/event car to keep weight down and not bothered about a carbon finish). yes you are correct in that carbon fibre is stronger than fibreglass, but depending how thick the fibreglass is will obviously give greather strength or if very thin (like the single skin panels comapnies are selling designed for securing with 4 pins etc) will mean it is not as strong. Only if the panel was dmaaged (no matter how thick or thin) will it then become porous and then leak in weather.
And yes any good bodyshop will be more than competent at removing your old roofskin and fitting the new, with suitable repairs where neccesary
Hope that helps
Cheers
Bic

Got ya. If I went for a roofskin it would be sprayed over anyhow so I guess
the Autoclaved 2x2 twill carbon fibre would be more suited as Im not interested
in the finish of the carbon fibre. Once the black paint goes on nobody will know
the difference.
Seems I may as well fork out for that rather than the fibreglass, personally not a fan of fibreglass products at all. Okay, well I will keep an eye out for
progress, when the times comes I will give you a shout regarding the carbon
roofskins Bic mate. Will ask all the details I need then.

Rushy_23 - Cool, no problem
Hard_core - i think it comes a close 2nd to fuel
Bit of an update on stripping mine this evening:
Door fully furnished with glass, electric door mirri, mechanisms all in place etc just in at under 25kg a side
Dashboard, very minimal dashboard with no other sundries or clocks etc, 8kg
Wiring Looms = 15kg (this will be halved next year)
Doors i hope to come in at under 10kg per side in the composite material and with the polycarb windows and gutted doors etc . . .
When we get the roof panel off we will weigh that too in comparison to the carbon replacement, along with getting weights of new bonnet and bootlid
Cheers
