I would've thought the saxsport exhaust would be fine so maybe the miltek manifold?
People seem to get good results with racelands and Supersprint manifolds.
I cant imagine it'd be a head restriction? I suppose could check the bodies are lining up with ports okay? Or time to refurb the head and regrind all the valves in? Might be worth getting a wet and dry compression test done?

yes saxsport and manifold id think would be up to it too... will do comp test
either way im going to have some fun with 20brake more than before
shows great torque?
power at wheels and fuel graph
as you can see power peaks and holds 6,600-7,600!
but as its healthy im going to enjoy it for a while and yes short quaife gear kit next on the spending list.

Torque figure seems to have really smoothed out in the first graph.
20bhp difference may not be loads, but if the graph translates to driving experience i bet it's a whole lot better to drive?

I'd say that that's pretty good results tbh, good torque and should feel pretty quick if you keep it between 5-7500 rpm.
Could be a tad richer uptop? Nearer to 12:1 than 13:1? Maybe it didn't produce more power when a bit richer so maybe no need, I'm sure they know what they're doing

yes a nice wide curve of torque
20hp i was a little dissapointed at first i need to drive it with some pace to be sure. feels like a good car on the road.

i spoke at andy hammond (mapper) and he says fuels ok at that. could add ignition as it will not det at all but rather leave as is incase bad batch of fuel may kill it.
check this tho....
my other vts 2003 75k on it, ind kit and sportcat system
posting this up as a comparrison (no wonder it kept with the black vts before i had it tuned)

also did a run with the black car without the filter on the bodies and it made 1 hp more.
LOL

That silver Vts is still pulling at 7k+ !! surely not standard cams?
The silver Vts is pulling same torque as you but earlier in the revs!

Also, dyno done in 3rd gear? Or just a misprint on the sheet.
Will be good to get the black one back on the track and see how it feels!

12.1 is far too rich for a N/A engine to make max power at. Most N/A engine make max power 12.9-13.5 (lambda 0.88-0.92)
As the graph shows this engine is running at ~12.8 at the upper range of the engine speed which is about right.
The kind of fuelling you seem to suggest is more appropriate for a turbocharged engine, where the extra fuelling reduces exhaust gas temperature for component protection.

Ah that makes sense, didn't think NA would make max power at around 13:1 afr
(sorry if this takes the progress thread offline a tad)
I suppose not for these engines, but say for example with a gti6 engine - would you run it a bit richer at higher rpms/loads, knowing that when the cars moving on the road and has airflow forced against the front of the car that the afr will lean up a tad? I've never seen mapping/afr's under a dyno then road situation, but can imagine the VE map ends up a bit of a balance of dyno performance/afr against afr on the road whilst driving?
PS no need to do anything to that silver Vts as it's perfect in oem form!

Maybe those claims of bolting on air filter and exhaust for 15-20bhp are more believable now!
