Thumbs down My VT Kitted / Chalked / Glow in the dark! - RIP Chalky! He's now dead :(

Here's how my little 1.1 started: I've reuploaded the pictures to flickr, and changed the size of them.

Bought Car
Got rid of the blue interior paint
Did a SMD LED Dial conversion / Sub / Comps install / Angel eyes
Crashed... Write off - Start of repairing!
VT Kit / Flared eyed bonnet.
Lumi Orange painting & Engine bay.
Chalkboard paint / Boot neons.
Lowered 50mm Front and Rear
Cruise in Yarmouth / Chalking Pics.
Repainted Chalkboard / Tidied up paintwork.
Olllldddd pics of car!
Snow pics / Small bump
Photoshop of glow in the dark accents.
Thinking of chalking dash? LED Running strips?

This way, when i start to actually do stuff I can look back and see how bad it used to look!

Anyway!

I bought a little 1.1 off a friend, who had done some 'modifications' which were slightly weird...

Few other pictures..

First thing I set about doing was to replace the rear door panels inside, the guy had literally ripped the speaker grill off the last one!

Ill take a picture of that tomorrow, the old one is on my table in the back garden.

Secondly had to rewire the 6x9's on the parcel shelf (Yes I know... Boooooo) but they have to do until i have some more money! They literally had just bare wire twisted together, it was horrible.

So then I set about my first actual mod!

I wanted to mesh the grill, so I looked at the guide off here... but I only had a hacksaw attached to a stanley handle... So it was interesting!

So off the grill comes:

Tried to cut mine out, failed miserably! Bought a dimma grill

Next Jobs:
  • Install Components in the front - Done!
  • Wire sub into boot - Done.
  • Build false floor for boot
  • Buy rest of VT kit! I have back bumper, side skirts, rear arches... (came with the car!) - Done.
  • Lower car (have the springs, need to read what else I need) - Done!
  • Get rid of that aerial! - Done.
  • Possibly respray those front lights black, cant work out if i like them
- Done!

I shall keep this updated as i get round to things!

Nice car, I think those lights, and the airbag is really gash though :x

Why has the front license plate been burnt?

I love the taillights!
But the blue in the interior looks very weird Oh and the front lights.
I think you will make it better though, good luck on it!

It depends the way you want it tbh.
I would probably tint the windows and leave all the interior black.
But if you want a change then you can go with a black and white theme, chose the right things to colour code and I would put white wheels on it!
About the lights, most people probably will say smoke it lol.

But it's just my opinion It's all about how you see it and how you want it personally.

There are small neon lights in the footwells that light them up, like a neon strip.

Ejector seat would have been cooler

Slight update!

Finally got annoyed at the blue interior, and had a go at spraying it / cleaning the car!

Took the centre console out, to find a complete mess of wiring, literally - wires just twisted together that are live etc... Eugh!

So finally sorted all that shit out, and then removed it all and sprayed!

Before:

After:

Dont think it came out too bad! Still think i'm going to have to get a different wheel, as my airbag is still a different colour to the actual wheel

Had a go at cleaning the interior, made me chuckle as the car looked like it was snowing inside. Someone must have shat up the inside, it was horrible.

Also tried to sort out the play in my gearbox, so ordered some shaft sockets from citreon and set about trying to get those installed.

Found out I need a roll pin aswell. Sigh. So off to buy one of those next!
After those pictures were taken, it literally pissed and hailed it down. Bloody english weather, so no rollpin in yet.

Next to do is to get rid of the blue in the headlights, and spray black. Would have done it today, but weather was crap - So thats a tomorrow job!

Anyone in the SE area that knows anything about lowering? I have the springs, but I have no idea what the hell I have to do to lower it...

Update! Its been ages, and I've just enjoyed driving around to be honest!

Done a few small things.

Firstly I did my LED conversion on my dials, and switched the background from that blue to a nice white set.

Then went about installing my other head unit, and did my sub at the same time. Had fun ripping my car apart to do this!

Then installed some components in the front, they are run off the HU at the minute, Ill sort out amping them at a later stage.

Then I decided I wanted some angel eyes, I had a look around - and found a strange pair that I hadnt seen on a saxo.

They are angels with a running strip at the top, which was different.

So I bought some new H1 bulbs and some silver indicators and set about installing these.

Still have to connect the running strip in, but I wanted some lights to go out with at the minute! Ill take a picture at night when they are lit up

Opinions on the strange angels?

Didnt see your reply! My sub was £100 - and despite people's dislike of Fli Subs - It makes a really nice sound. My speakers were £35, they are a temporary upgrade to get rid of the standards... but again, its not a bad sound.

At the minute I'm trying to get a VT Kit together, because I think im going back to the idea of kitting it!

Quite a big update now.

I decided last month to have a crash in my car. It was on the A12 if people know that - I decided to sneeze a bit, when a lorry pulled into the outside lane causing everybody to do an emergency stop - and I went into the back on another guy - Bad times!

Insurance told me car was unrepairable, but I got the car back and set about fixing him back up! Looking back, it actually gave me the kick up the arse to do my car nicely

Ill let the pictures do the talking.

Damage didn't look horrendous, but the front of the car had moved quite substantially inwards!

Stripped it down..

Decided to put a VT wing on the car instead, which then kicked me into doing the whole car in the end!

Cutting the arches back... (That's my friend cutting - I wasn't trusted with the grinder.)

Yeah... I still needed a bonnet. I decided to give it a first coat of paint on the colours to see what it would look like as I was bored.

As I had to paint the car, I decided to debadge the rear.

Now came the difficult choice of painting. Which colour!

I ended up going with chalkboard black, and then accenting it with a lumi colour. See if you can guess which!

Rocker cover next to tart up the engine bay...

After its first coat on the back end. (The bumper hasn't been done yet!)

My ... err... 'accent' colour!

I tried to mix in a pearl effect into it as a lacquer - It didn't go too well!

So that is how it sits currently.

I bought a bonnet for it the other day, which is currently in the process of being painted before being fitted. I'll take some more pictures of it when its on the car!

Thoughts?

Looking pretty good imo bud

I love the fact that you're making good out of something that was originally bad. Good progress, eager to see how this one will turn out
