Watched this with the misses on Saturday...imo brilliant film.
Loved the fact it was recorded by a handheld camera, making it as if you're actually there.
Favorite part of the film: When they bombed the monster while they were in the helecopter. Then the monster came out of the smoke and smashed the helecopter to the ground. shook me up.

I dont want to say what was at the end of the trailor because it may give something away to those who haven't seen it... Also did anyone else notice the object falling into the sea when Beth and Rob are sitting on the ferris near the end of the film?

Its not supposed to be Godzilla at all
The film was founded on the idea of making a film similar to that of Godzilla but with an American monster rather than chinese/japanese

Saw it today at the showcase in Morley £4.95!
The film is genius, it's a love it or hate it like the equally brilliant Blair Witch Project.
I loved everything about it, even the fact that as the camera man got more shaky as he tired the more I felt as I was there!
I went thinking it was a UFO film due not reading up on it and was amazed to see a startled baby 300 foot mutant Blue Whale roaming New York lol! I loved the parasites and the fact as a viewer feeling you are there you are scared to go outside and are as scared to stay inside with the smaller threats! I loved the leaning tower scene where you see the beast not far down below running towards you. The film really made my heart race as though I was going into a street fight. The film isn't original by all means but borrows good sci-fi influences.
The ending was a scripted downer but it opens the story up for sequels, especially with the dialogue during the end credits! evila llits sti.
Don't wait for dvd you've got to see this at the cinema for the full effect.

Loved it. too many people seemed disappointed with the open-ended nature of the films fin.
Id maybe watch it again at some point really.
As has been said, its a proper marmite film.

yep.
It was anti-hollywood, with no flashy hero's, the whole film was like a childish nightmare, being chased down dark tunnels, being high-up with no stability, looking up at a huge monster, seeing things that look very strange, especially in the distance, etc etc. Perhaps the cast was a little too good looking for the camcorder effect to work early in the film but I suppose the story is about yuppy types who want for nothing becoming no more than parasites themselves with minimal requirements.

Me and a load of mates went and saw it last night. All thought it was shit. Quite possible the worst film i have ever seen. Would of walked out if i didn't need a lift!
The use of the handheld camera is novel and could of worked but the movement on it made it hard to see what was going on. Also, imo to much happened. They didn't have enough normal parts which i feel a film needs.
Quite a few people got up and left in the cinema. Biggest disapointment of 2008?

No it doesn't which is apart of the story if you like, you have no idea and therefore it's a mystery.
