Thanks guys. Fingers crossed it all comes out good in the end. The graph shows so much potential. Such a shame what happened... You can see it's running lean practically everywhere. Where it runs richer, there's big jumps in power. That was a 200bhp engine IMO...

Just shows the hiflow head was good - as are the At Power bodies! That was with Newmans PH4 cams? With uprated springs and standard hydro followers?
Just hope the new engine makes that power + more when mapped properly !!
You picking the car up Saturday? So is being mapped in the next few days?

I'm hoping the head wasn't the key, otherwise I'll be disappointed with the new engine. It's only got a C2 BV head, with some minor mods to seat big valves.
Yep, PH4's, Newman valve springs, and stock followers.
Yeah, picking up Sat if all goes to plan. Mapping tomorrow, or Friday if it's not ready in time.

mate, i know you dont want to hear this but if a company did a full blown power run with a new built engine which hadnt been mapped, and was shown to be running lean, i'd be straight down there to pick it up.
at this rate theyre gonna blow your new one up.
what goes through some tuners minds?

close to 200bhp once fully mapped up with a nice spread of torque on hydro's would have been a cracking result. I'm sure the new engine will be just as good !!

It wasn't running dangerously though Paul. It was on a base map, which as you can see, genrated some impressive power.

i know that, but a power run is carried out at full throttle.
if its not mapped you never run a car at full throttle, its just asking for trouble

I suspect they would also have the wideband on there aswell, to control the fueling aswell.
If they didnt then more fool them.

wideband needs some time to readjust the map, it doesnt happen instantaneously.
its been shown as running lean, therefore its not safe lol

I've just a LONG chat with Northampton Motorsport. Great bunch there, and more than happy to chat to me about their work, and also what went on with my car. They've filled me with a lot of confidence.
They don't just wham it on the rollers... I think that was Matt's why of explaining things, but didn't get it right. They do lot's of stuff before any full throttle runs. They also said that the engine was shaping up nicely, and gave absolutely no indication of anything detormental to happen. They have a knock type sensor which they plug in, and it leads off to a set of headphones, so they are always listening out for anything going amiss internally.
The chap I spoke to explained the mapping process which was so much more indepth than I ever imagined. Really interesting information. I have every bit of confidence with their mapping skills.
On a bad note. They could see that Matt had cancelled a session booked in for tomorrow, which I guess was for my car. If it doesn't go in Friday, they'll be fully booked until sometime next week. Darn it. I want this done and dusted!

Exactly as Pauline said on all accounts, dont rush them for the sake of an extra 7 days to get the engine right, tbh they should really be doing some decent headwork considering THEY wrecked your old head, but ill reserve my real thoughts untill the result of the new engine...

Latest work from Pug1Off. Car won't be ready for Saturday. The person in the machining company who works on the pistons is off sick. Great...

As with every build there is always unexpected problems & costs. I had issues when my car was up at GMC - ended up being there for 2.5 weeks instead of 1 as planned. I know for a fact all your issues will fly out the window the day you pick it up so just try and be patient for the time being mate

So if the old engine didn't have enough clearance why are they using the same oversize pistons and machining them again?
