Really good cams, with or without a remap..

To get the best put of them I'd have them mapped and the limiter raised to 7200rpm at the same time, will only see 2/4bhp on paper but it will make the car idle properly and will be a smoother power delivery with better mpg and drive ability, with the limiter higher means you can stay in the power band a little longer so then when you change up you start straight in the next power band instead of keep falling out of it....

as far as off the shelf cams i think newmans are probably the best really, other people will argue just my opinion, i wanted newmans for mine but none were available... that generally says alot, if you can find them second hand they are generally kept by the purchaser...

if you are gonna tune a vtr thats really the only way forward, not cheap but a good choice

I was going to get these cams for my vtr before I got rid.
Know a few folk who were running these unmapped but had played with the timing a bit and their VTRs pulled a lot harder than mine did.

To get the best out of them and all other mods you will need a remap but you will still see decent gains unmapped.

I know alot of folks say take the 16 valve route. But i do enjoy the low down torque that the 8 valve delivers and its decent fuel economy. I was thinking grouping this with a 4 branch mani and a less restrictive exhaust. What mods would you recommend as fair as inlet? Bearing in mind I dont want stupid amounts of induction noise or a stupidly loud exhaust. Bigger injectors too maybe?

The torque is higher on the 16v across the whole rev range. That argument is void
