so no constructive pics then ad
point and shoots are for pissed mates, try doing some harder stuff and you will see why you cant be so retentive over 100 iso all the time

Very, very good pictures, the Porsches looked very good. The 8th picture down is my favourite, when they are coming down the hill. Looked a very good day.

Haha! I for some reason thought you had a 100-400!
Ant has, not you.
LOL
And yes, Ads has ISO issues.

You do know that we're talking about "noisy" images - ie images that look grainy - not the actual sound that the camera makes when in use.

give me a chance muddy funkster. I was using a canon 28-80, didnt have a clue what i was doing (no change), (except to stay away from those dirty high ISO's ) and it was my first time. I sure with a few hours practice i can bosh out some better shots.
anyway they were shown in your reply to your comment about 'being retentive about high Iso's innit'... did I need high ISO? nope.

are all your shots the same? yes. Is the light really poor? no?
when you do different stuff and in different light you NEED to use different iso settings, otherwise you will have a slow shutter speed and blurred to fuck images lol

ISO 800
A 10D will never come close to a 20D/30D at that sort of ISO so I can understand your concern but there's not point in not using the camera if you aren't going to go outside ISO200.

just goes to show the progress between the 20 and the 10.... how much post processing was done on that dave? I could always grab one of those photoshop add-ins that reduces the noise maybe.
just to show I'm not totally anti-high-iso...
1600ISO

'no point in NOT using the camera'?
or
'no point in using the camera'?
disagree completely...the camera produces lush photos at low ISO far better than my compact.

The only PP that was done on that was resizing and small adjustments to levels, plus a low level pass of Unsharp Mask. I don't use Noise Ninja either.
Small typo, I meant "no point in using the camera if you aren't going to go outside ISO200" as you have seemed so hell bent on not doing so previously.
Yours will produce good results at ISO400 and acceptable results at ISO800, if you nail the exposure noise levels are reduced.
I have a feeling you're arguing with Ryan just for the sake of it.

Dave I'd be interest too see a direct comparison between level adjusted and low level pass of unsharp mask... if thats ok? wondering whether its something i should adopt for my pics. What i post up it what comes straight off zee camera.

I disagree with what I've seen from mine in the past, but I'll stick the camera on a tripod and take the same photo and we can compare. when you say nail the exposure... presumably a longer exposure?
