Default JP4S, fitting oil pressure switch?

Later JP4S into a Saxo. The JP4 engines ive experienced before had a sort of blanking plug covering where the oil pressure switch would go on a J4, so if you removed that you ciuld retrofit a sensor.

This newer JP4S doesnt have that, the block casting is solid. Id drill and tap it but the thought of wrecking a block gives me the fear.

Id seen something a while ago about fitting a sandwich plate, but as this engine is to be fitted with a Mocal oil cooler then the Mocals sandwich plate will bum that out.

Suggestions?

You can get the sandwich plates with sender take-offs. About £40 I think.

And fit a Setrab cooler instead. Mocal coolers are garbage and fail for fun.

Well he should start saving for either a Setrab one, or a new engine.

I've had several Mocal coolers fail on the dyno, in various ways.

Some fail under the fittings where they (aren't) welded to the cooler, and I've also had them fail in the middle of the core. When I rang them they wouldn't deny that they were now made in China, and instead just said that they 'pressure test them', but clearly they do that cold because hot oil just pushes the paint off when it is weakened by the heat and they spew oil out.

Fortunately, in a way, you can see it happen on the dyno so you can kill the motor before it's knackered (or on fire) but you don't have that luxury when you're driving it.

They are now utter, utter shit.

Decision has now been mDe to ditch the Mocal plan. Now need to find a sandwich plate which will allow fitment of a pressure switch (and a switch that will fit)

Cheers chaps!
