Seems a waste to not go for standalone management with such a expensive build and at least you know the mapping will be spot on and isn't going to damage the freshly built forged engine, definatly not something I'd be doing using standard ecu.

Thanks sandy.
& I don't see a problem with using the standard ecu. My problem is I keep listening to everyone else's 'opinions' and 'thoughts' on what they would do. I think I'll listen to myself for once and stop changing my mind day in day out.
Going to try to do this build as cheap as possible for now, I'll probably only hit 250whp but that's fine for now I can eventually switch out the other parts for a standalone & a remap. I think it makes complete sense, wayne is adamant he can do it. If my car blows up on his rollers that's his fault anyway..
I'll let ya'll know how it goes, see ya at fcs13?

you say if the car blows up on the rollers its his fault, but he wont be the one funding the rebuild.lol i can recommend the guys at GR Performance very highly for mapping etc, i would also speak to them regarding choice of ecu as i went with an emerald k6 which they said was nice to work with. Im also someone who wouldnt be running standard ecu especially with the amount of money your going to have in the build, it would be a mega shame for that to be the bit that can ruin it.

Can't build it I'm waiting to pay off my insurance aren't I
Due in feb so can't buy anything drastic till I know how much it's going to be haha
As for parts the next lot will be pistons rods & bolts & barings headwork ect ect.. So the engine can be built. Then ill pay ricky for the shell & have it sprayed so the engine has a home.
I was thinking these colours, thoughts?
Arden blue - corsa
Posi blue - sax ofc
Cobalt Blue - 106
Imperial blue - mk1 focus
There's also focus rs blue.. Unsure of its name though

Might have decided on Cossack grey..
I think that's how you spell it, it looks amazing and I always wanted a grey one but couldn't find a good colour.
Rickys dead I think as he isn't replying to me but we'll see what he says when he replies

Seems mental saying "if it blows up on the rollers". That should never happen if built and mapped right, is crazy not to spend that bit extra for decent management and mapping when so much effort is put in.
Sandy is building and mapping my engine and from what I have read on various forums is highly recommended, suppose if you want an engine to last you do the research and listen to other peoples experiences

Never known a build thread with so much advice. Let him build it how he wants. If he wants to map the std ecu then let him and we can see the results!

Not my 1st post, just shows it like that but thanks
Fair enough choose to take advice from the person you trust most but lots of people have been there and done it and have offered their opinions to help.
Suppose t depends what you will be charged to make any changes to the standard ecu map and how easy/quick it will be to make changes

standard ecu map. you say it like there is only 1 map in the ecu
its full of maps. the whole ecu is split into separate maps all controlling different things.
anyway, nobody else has mapped the standard ecu on a turbo of this power. currently the limit was 202.5. but that one is someone i know and its getting remapped soon to around 230. we'll see what happens anyway
ill be sticking to the standard ecu either way, prove peoples wrong

[QUOTE=Jack-Cooley;6190130]standard ecu map. you say it like there is only 1 map in the ecu
No my point was that you get the standard ecu remapped, all seems good then realise its not running right and need the map tweeked/altered.
Just wondered how quick these changes could be made compared to an aftermarket ecu.
Fair play sticking to your guns but seems like your trying to prove a point and not listen to peoples advice, but good luck anyway

The map tweaks aren't hard at all. He's mapped a few so he knows what he's doing with them now so small changes are easier and the full remap from start to finish only takes as long as he would normally spend remapping the oem ecu for itb's ect..
Looking at pico injectors the 630cc ones they're £70 each right?
Also anyone here got a gripper diff? Fitted to a be box or separate? And injectors as above.
And an inlet, I know the C2 ones recommended but are there any others that fit? Even with some small mods that we could do?

Rover inlet can be made to fit. As can a AGU vag inlet.
I run a gripper in a BE.
Edit - just realised you're looking to buy one. Almost never come up second hand. Sorry.

There was one in the for sale section a while back (the vag inlet). Have a scroll through and try and find it. Was only a month or so ago iirc. If its sold you could still ask the guy how its done
