Is my axle on it's way out?
I thought my axle was on it's last legs with there being camber and not being able to put my alloy on or it rubs the suspension arm but it doesn't rub with the steel but does a have a fair bit of camber. Someone told me it was fine, Is there something else that can cause the wheel to have camber It just had a new wheel bearing when i put a new hub on the other week. So is it possible it's something else or does the person that said it was fine not have a clue?
How can i check to see if it is the axel just to be sure before i go spending money for a full new axle, The car currently only has 41K is that normal for an axle to go about then.

It's fucked and dangerous to drive.
Jack up that car and give the wheel a good hard wobble, if the whole arm moves then it's fucked.

Well other than the arm being physically bent then theres nothing else.
Mileage is not really relevant now. The cars are old and the seals deteriorate with age. The wheel bearing can be swapped over as that sits on the stub axle.
If you can support the car safely you should be able to see play in one or both the arms.

I just went out and checked straight after i posted the thread put the car up on the jack and gave it a good hard shake and wobble and there wasn't any play at all. I might get into a garage and have them have a look at it if i can't figure it out

It'll be because its completely rusted to fuck on the inside, I would happily guess that the bearings will be non existent if you take it apart.
If there is camber and its an original axle it will be fucked

I can never get photobucket to work for some reason so i can only use Gyazo. Here is some pictures of it.

Im getting it into a garage before i go buying a new axle that i don't have the money for just now just to be sure on what it is. It's strange how there isn't any play on it though no matter what i did it wouldn't move.

Sorry to hijack your thread but mine is so bad that the rh rear wheel is rubbing the inner arch!
I'm going to look at a secondhand one and want to know if I put a spirit level against each wheel should it be straight or have a slight camber if it is ok.
Don't really want to get a refurbished one at the moment, but also don't want another duff one either.
Cheers

I know. Was hoping to gain a bit of time as been told that I can have the secondhand one for about £50.00 mates rates. Then I can either have a go at rebuilding mine or best price I have seen for a refurb is £255.00.

ImElliot and VTSBRO if you looking for axle see this thread http://www.saxperience.com/forum/sho...d.php?t=466297
Drum rear beam good - £80
VTR rear disc brake rear beam complete with discs/calipers -£150
I sold one to the guy a few months back disk pads callipers no play on cam in axle bought for mine however didn't fit and sold to op as was looking to do disc conversion however now braking car due to problem cant be fixed or will cost too much to fix.. Bought from refurbish centre in Wigan who do many different parts for pugs and saxos. Maybe worth a look ImElliot as yours seems to be needing new or refurbish as your wheel is inwards and to be honest I wouldn't risk driving like that as whole thing could collapse and cause more problems.
