Wax Help
Hii ive search the thread but its not really what i wanted to find.
Could anyone help me with waxing or polishing i dont know.
what i want to get is a super shiny wet look finish im not to bothered about how long it lasts
im currently using the turtle wax ice which leaves a good protective layer and it works quite well but i want something moree 'Amazingly shiny' if you get me
ive heard about dodo juice but i dont have a clue to be totally honest.
Ive heard poor boys is spose to be quite good but thats just someone telling me that

To be brtually honest, its all 'good' stuff you can get off the shelf but theres more to a deep shine than just a layer of wax on top.
Shiny paint is basically clean, smooth paint. No road grime/dirt built up on the surface
Unfortunately, REALLY shiny/deep/wet looking paint (presumably what you're after) requires a lot of work to get right in the first palce then a bit of work to keep it like that (a wash of my blue car takes two hours for example, and it does about 5 miles a week on average )
Head over to CYC and have a read of their short guides, they're a bit more friendly over on their forum than on detailing world imo.

Thats all very well but there needs to be a lot of 'prep' before getting the 'wet look'

It definately doesn't if you use it by itself, but a good wash, then dry, super resin polish and then ultra deep shine and your in business

Glaze. Used one for the first time early this week and te difference is bloody good! Get some Prima Amigo. You can even apply it by hand but it's best with machine. It makes the paint look so much deeper and glossy. It needs well prepped paint underneath though. I clayed then a quick machine polish on mine but about 6/7 months back I did loads of corrective work so it was still pretty good.

Just tried the amigo on a slightly swirled crash helmet. Helmets not been used for over a year so gave it a quick wash. Plenty swirls and not too great shine. Hit with amigo 3 times each left for a few hours before buffing off (longer you leave it the better, up to 24 hours and it comes off piece of piss!). Now most of the swirls are filled (not removed, it's not abrasive but is a great filler) and the shine is amazing. All done by hand the results from a machine are even better. Little bit ott getting the rotary out for a helmet though.

You could spend a boat load of money and hours getting the best type of finish and it's dirty by the next day.
Have a read of a few guides online and just get some reputable products.
I usually spend 1-2 hours a week cleaning the car using a lambswool mitt and primarily meguiars and/or autoglym products and it looks pretty good. Mine is never going to be perfect, it's an 11 year old car with a few marks, swirls and chips etc.

Yeah, you can have a shower and need another the next day, why bother?
I find once my car is in a good state with a good wax, all it needs is a quick wash once a week and it keeps it nice. Once every 2-3 months give it a fresh coat or two of wax and it will last well for a while. I tend to give mine a proper detail once every 6 months. In spring ready for summer and in autum to last the winter.

I was getting at the fact you don't need to spend 8 hours a week cleaning it, unless you don't have a life...

Kind of cheating... Its fresh paint as such and hasn't seen 10 - 15 years of sun shine/ swirl marks lol.
As for Collinite, I totally agree.
This was mine a few weeks back taken on a mobile phone:
It was clay bared as-well. I think I need to clay it over again
I think that if the paint is 'Smooth' it does give a better shine. A clay bar will help allot.
