Default Fuel Pump not priming - immobiliser dash light flashing

fuel pump not priming - after long period of being out of use and new engine fitted

I conencted my battery up late last night after carrying out a jp4 conversion, purely to turn the engine
over via the starter motor with the coil pack disconnected, and to check the fuel pump is priming / pressuring the fuel rail.
unfortunately the fuel pump will not prime and the immobiliser light is repeatedly flashing. The starter does however turn the engine.

some background info

car is 2003 3 plug VTS, all the loom, ecu, sensors etc are orginal and worked prior to the conversion,
ecu has been dry stored for maybe a year, should not have gotten damaged.
the ecu dashboard light comes on then extinguishes a few seconds later when i turn ignition on
remote central locking and alarm works via the key fob
all external lights work on vehicle and the stereo powers up and asks for code but heater blowers will not come on

I am aware there are some checks i can maybe do

press inertia switch
check relay wiring / functionality under ecu
check all fuses, or in particualr some select fuses?? under dash? in engine bay?
check all earth connections for good continuity with DVM
check all other electrical connections are made properly as best as practical

some questions I have

is the ecu pairing memory volatile or is it flashed to an eprom or something?
is the transponder pickup ring fused /or powered by a relay
how can i test the relay under ECU

finally does anyone have any logical ideas how to best tackle this problem before escalating/ spending unneccesary money

Thanks in advance

You`ve locked the ecu, which is why the light is flashing & the pump isn`t priming.

ok cheers, thanks for the replies

what implications does that have then? when you say I have locked it, by not using it for so long would that lock it? and does this mean my keys are no good, or it just needs some kind of unlock on the unit only or is it anyones guess

just want to make my first go at fixing it stand to a good chance of getting it working.

yes,

I bought the car as a fully working 03 VTS, because Im a sad git I have taken it apart and replaced almost everything on the car that can wear out over the last year, including a low mileage JP4, painted various bits and under sealed etc etc

Now my work is almost finsihed and the bugger wont work!

but all the wiring, ecu, keys, everything is original, and did work when I started out, like I say its just been sat ages, and I was careful as I suppose I could have been with all the wiring

It will be a earth somewhere, check the gearbox both the earths on?

Dont let anyone tell you the ECU is locked because it not. As soon as you fine the earth or connector not plugged in it will fire up.

ok cheers,

Before I do anything hasty I'll check over all the wiring, I have already checked the gearbox, it has the two green earths on the same lug at the top, and the larger individual one further toward the back.
ill see if theres any sensors without a home, although i'm fairly confident its all on im hoping something isn't for an easy fix!

Well Cam, you the man!

Went over every wire inspecting and gave a little tensile test tug, crack, the smaller of the two lugs on the big bolt on the starter motor came off, a thick black wire that goes into the loom

after being the most awkard piece of wire to repair/extend/tighten up ever
I turned to first notch on ignition and immobiliser cleared, fuel primed , Turned key a little further and after about 5 seconds of chugging and spluttering my shiney JP4 sprung to life then ran like a fekkin dream!!

felt goog cos this puppies been on axle stands seemingly forever

thanks all for suggestions
