Tom's E46 330ci Msport
Hi all,
As some of you will know I've owned the car for just over a month.
It's a 2003 330ci M sport that came stanced. Now while I'll agree that it looked awesome like this, the car was ridiculous to drive. Speedbumps were impossible so I couldn't get home and the subframe was taking a battering.
So here's how it came to me:
And this is what she's currently looking like after having the suspension setup for a fast road spec and a machine polish.
I love the noise the car makes and it's been faultless so far but I'd like to replace the DISA and the VANOS seals soon for peace of mind along with getting the MV1 refurbed. Then I'll look into some more track / race themed wheels soon. Oh and an eisenmann is in the pipeline!
Current spec is:
2003 BMW 330ci M-sport
92K
HSD Dualtech Coilovers
Driftworks rear camber adjustment arms
Chunkier anti-roll bars unsure of make
Oxblood Executive Nappa leather interior
Auto wipers
Auto lights
Auto climate control
Auto air quality system
Thanks for looking!
Tom.

I hear your pain on speed bumps bud as I would love to lower my 330d but I to won't get near my house as the front splitter would get wiped out

You bought this off of a mate of mines brother.
It did look so nice when it was stanced, will be interested to see what you do with it!

Nope they're sold to a mate.
To pull them off the car had to be slammed and it just didn't drive properly. Wouldn't mind if it was a 1.8 or something but not a 3 litre.

Erm if I took it to a garage I'd be looking at a bill of around £400ish for the DISA and VANOS.
However I'd rather just buy the seals myself (£80 from the states) and do it myself. Means I can strip the engine down and get better acquainted
Wheel refurb will be around £220ish so not too bad.

Right then, car is booked in for it's wheels to be done on the 22nd April. Looking forward to that as they're bringing the car down slightly.
Last night the car started to jump on idle, make a loud noise near the DISA valve and it chucked up a few lean codes. The only risk involved with this, is that there's a small pin that holds the DISA flap in place. And if this comes loose and falls into the inlet it's a huge problem. So a repair kit is on the way and hopefully I'll be back up and running.
If that doesn't sort it I'll be looking at a vacuum leak near the intake boots (can't find any for sale in the UK!) or worst case it'll be the CCV which I'll get a garage to do. Far too fiddly for me.
Tom.

I genuinely didn't realise you had wheels sprayed. I was going to comment about cleaning your car on FB the other day, glad I didn't now.
Looks nice but I think I prefer the wheels silver so they contrast the body.
If it was mine I would be getting a set of these for it:

An FD with an LS lump is high on my want list.

Brettles: if they were silver it would just look standard and poop, it's lighter in person, the photos are edited slightly. The car was filthy when I took the pics of it at the jet.
Matt: Rich really looks after that thing, had about £4K spent on it future proofing the engine. Currently running around 350bhp but capable of far more with bigger injectors and a mapping session.
It probably won't be long until I sell the BMW. Maybe wait til winter then put some money back into the mx5. It's too well built and posh for me. Does go like stink though.

How much do your buddies charge for a quick detail Tom? The 200 may benefit a little freshen up!

I'll ask Woodie for you Guy, he's keen to do some different cars to put up on his website (he'll blank your plate off).
He's mobile too so win win.

End of that chapter.
Car was hit by a bin lorry last week. Nothing I could do about it and it's just been written off.
S14A next.
