AX 1.5D fails lot of white smoke
Hello people. I am new to the forum, I'm from Portugal and I hope to learn a lot here.
I have an AX 1.5D and for a few months, the car seemed to work 3 cylinders and made white smoke badly burned diesel, but when warmed, was good.
Today started getting worse and I took the timing belt and advanced fuel injection pump. Well the car is much worse, the car shuts off if not accelerate, and fails more and makes 10 times more smoke!!
I bought a bosch pump, and the car remained the same. I bought injector bosch, and the car is equal ...The engine seems to not be in the timing, but the flywheel, the pump and Camshaft are properly locked in their spots!
Think that something went wrong and have some warped valve? Do you think that the head gasket between cylinders burned by coincidence?
Please someone helpme... sorry for my bad translate...

Head gasket failure, the lack of compression & white smoke is an indicator.

Doesn't automatically mean that the valves are damaged, the head gasket can fail for a number of reasons. You won't know until you've taken the head off.

In short , disassemble the head or not ? What should I do ? 'm Already two weeks without a car and I'm in despair ... if you guys advise me to change gasket , tomorrow afternoon already dismount .
Besides the gasket , I'll change the valves seals and rotate the valves . Suggest anything else to do now?

Easiest solution would be to change the engine for a lower mileage one.

does the smoke stink of unburnt fuel and sting? the fact it went when warm would point to some fuelling issues, HG would be prevalent regardless of engine temp.
are you sure you retimed it properly?

Could have jumped a tooth or 2 on the cambelt putting the timing out, but that said the problem would also be there once warm.
Can you check its timed correctly?

Ooh my god, how stupid i am.... the timing wasnt ok... i had to loosen the 3 screws in the pump and camshaft pulleys, tension, and then, tighten.
I think that the real problem (when it started do fail months ago) was a delay in the injection pump.
Now that the timing is ok, i hear tic tic tic and when i acelerate increases the noise.. driving in the street, at low rpm it seems ok to me, but when he should have the full power he simply does the tic tic noise and dont get power up...
It dont look like the injectors are mice,
Do you guys think possible the tic tic noise made from valves?

Yes the tic tic noise could be valves.
These engines are very noisy though. the valvetrain can wear and the clearances become too large so the valves do not open enough.
It is possible you have bent a valve. I am not 100% sure though.

Buckets and shims?
I think you need to take the head off.
Would be a shame if it was a problem with the pump though, lol

Martin, at this pont ill say anything...
Well, i opened the head and i didnt saw anything concrete...
The pistons have the valves marks =SS but at my last trie to timing, im shure that they werent touching the pistons, so, why steel the tic tic noise?
The admission valve of the first cylinder has lot of backlash,so i will put 8 new valve guides, valve seals and rotate them, at least adjust them... there wasnt no bend valves eheh lucky xD
As that valve was not sealing the compression i think that it was the cause of the primary problem (failing a cylinder) but the tic tic tic noise.... hmmmm....
Lets hope for the best.. in to days i will receive tje head from the turner...
