Sorry but if that head is finished in those pics you need to get some one to sort it out as that head work is far from the best and nowhere near finished.

you must have done a lot of head work in the past to be able to cast judgement over port wall finishes like that. as most engine builders like my self know that is it shape and port taper that creates better flow. the housdroff measurement of the port wall is not as critical. i can assure you this head flows better then standard just like our last tu5 head did that made 151bhp @ the wheels with 708's and sandy gsxr kit with bags of mid range torque at atspeed dyno. im sure colin or ian will inform you of how well it flowed.

The bonnet wasn't carbon mate it was just a carbon effect wrap lol just a cheap way of hiding the bonnet but I don't have it on anymore had bonnet de badged and sprayed original colour in colbolt blue.

Nice car, but I agree those ports don't look finished to well you want a smooth matt finish for best flow Not shiny or the fuel will stick to the walls
Other than that looking good

is that inlet or exhaust?
imo that is far too smooth for an N/A spec inlet port! you only have to look at a Renault sport N/A inlet port. Diamond cut finish. rather ruff! each to there own with head work though. there is a lot of old wives tales out there to do with it. our heads make good power and that's good enough for me.
Take a look at terry dolphines inlet ports. he's been doing it a lot longer then me. more or less identical finish.

An 80 grit finish on intakes is coarse enough for carburetted use. With fuel injection you can go as fine as 120 providing the airspeed of the port is fast enough at low rpm, otherwise it's safest to stay with 80 if the head is designed for power in midrange and topend.
I don't question my own head - it produced the power figure I requested (400bhp+) from my engine builder, on a heart breaker dyno, and the person that did the work has his name to numerous top hp street driven cars in uk holland and france ranging from 750-900hp.

Lee, whats gone on with the head? Was it fully finished or did you ask him to spend abit more time on it to get the finish a little better?

Like i say ross your builder has his hypothasis on headwork and what works for him and i have mine and what works for me. Im not doubting his work at all just giving my opinion like you are yours.
I have to admit the port in that pic do look rougher then they are. This maybe due to dirt as it needs to go back in the washer before lee gets it back.

It's all gravy - like I said a few posts ago I genuinely didn't mean anything by my post as I hope you can see. Obviously I'm defensive of my headwork as JP @ JNL Racing is exceptional at what he does IMO. Pleased we're all sorted
