I haven't fitted a turbo but sam has.
Have a look http://youtu.be/m0mGSGX-C-4?t=31s
T15 turbo, NO wastegate, leaking boost everywhere. only about 10-20psi in the video.
It was dyno'd at 35psi 135hp and 190 lbft

Yup, totally standard bottom end.
Fitted a DTurbo bosch pump from a 306.
Standard 1.5D injectors (XUD ones don't fit)
Simply bolted on the turbo, takes an oil feed from the oil filter. Sam told me he's changing that feed to come from the oil pressure sensor hole.
Oil return goes straight into the sump
catch tank
no intercooler
Battery moved to behind passenger seat cos the turbo sits where the battery is.
It's only been running three months so far
It leaks boost where the manifold meets the head, no gasket used.
When I was speaking to him, however, I asked him if I really needed a boost compensator. I got told that it only controls off boost smoke.
Soooooo if you're light on the throttle, there's no smoke until you hit boost. This means you can use a 1.5D standard pump.
What you need to do it properly:
GTI flywheel and clutch
T15 turbo
New rod bolts
pipes
welder
If anything is going to break on Sams one, it'll be the rod bolts first.
No need to change the head gasket or anything, it's 3 layers of solid copper as standard.
that's all I've learned about charging a 1.5D for now

fair play you need to do that! T15 turbos are stupidly cheap to looking at that list 350-450 at the most?
edit you have to do it after seeing this video, posted in ukfo to

My dad told me of a scrap yard local that just got a mint low mileage miami blue 106 in, so today went up and had a look.
I've always wanted a boot a drivers door and bonnet cause if anyone who saw it at Trax they aren't the best condition.
Got all this for £80 well chuffed, they are all in mint condition well bonnet has tiny stone chips but are a lot better than what I have now, the boot lid even has a spoiler, Bonus!
Set about swapping over my wiper motor (different wiring on earlier ones) and swapping over my central locking onto new boot lid
Notice the diesel smoke has turned the inside of my old boot black lol
Fastest way to make a diesel quick:
And fitted
Going to fit the door and bonnet tomorrow then give it a wash.
Hope you like

I have to laugh at these boys on here saying that screwing the pump on a 1.5D makes it no quicker lol.
I did the pump, straight through exhaust and ram pipe on mines and it was usably quick. Gave cars like the 110bhp Golf a good run manys a day.
I was going to turbo the standard 1.5 engine but went with my long term plan of shoe horning in an XUD 1.9 D-Turbo lump into her. Can't wait to get here legally on the tar.
Turbo the standard engine lad, they love the boost.

Is to fit a 16v, which I did last year after 12 years of 1.5d, super charged 1.5d and 1.5DT. Final straw was ruined piston rings on the no.3 cylinder.

That's how long it's taken me to accept swapping to 16v.
Also, why've got got 0 post count when you've just posted?
