Dont think they are actually classed illegal, due to the fact they promote them mainly to store music/media on them to play on your ds. But obviously conveniently can play games too

technically the card themselves aren't illegal, it is the use of them to store games that is illegal, so purchase isnt hence why Amazon can stock them.

There's no technicality about it at all, R4 cards are legal.
It's only the firmware that is used to hack the DS that isn't.

ive got 10 dvd's full of ds games that run great on these cards, my boys got about 80 games on his ds and thinks it great, just cant let him take it to school ;-)
