Default Best Track Tyres for Saxo IMO! toyo r888's maxsport rb5 anRd Yokohama Ao48

I don't know why I can't post in the track chat forum!!!
I have ran Toyo R888's for a whole year and offer much better grip on my Saxo track car but at silverstone trax ran 205 50 R15 maxsport RB5 on the front and they gripped far better than the toyo Tyres! I also used them at a full trackday at Angelsey and Cadwell but they are to wide and rubbed on my arches! So I am definitely goin to buy the 185/55/15 rb5 as are just £61.11 Inc vat delivered!!! I can't Recomended them high enough and hope this helps other track attendees I am not new to trackdays as have been doing them for 15 years and have tracked my Saxo for nearly 5yrs doing at least 6 trackdays a year!!!

From what I've been told and read on reviews the yoko's are meant to grip better but wear faster than there equivilant Toyo's

I've got some ao48 mediums for this year but haven't tried them out yet as im still using wets due to the damp weather..

I have a408r on front now and grip is similar to r888 but cost more new!! Mine were a bargain got then on ford alloys for £31 of eBay with 3/4mm of tread so a lot of life left buy had to gonto london to gay them! Sold alloys for £21 though so bargain hair paid for fitting

'RB5's have been superceeded by the 'Tarmac', I believe.

From what i've heard of them, they're supposedly about as good as R888s, but are obviously a hell of a lot cheaper.

T1-R's burn up far too fast in the dry

From personal experience I would rate the a048s slighty better than the r888s, but then it's hard to compare because I ran different suspension set up and chassis set ups with each tyre.

I did the snow day at Brands with them on and almost a full day with them on last month so they aren't too bad. I did use the 50 profile version though.

For budget i don't think you can do better but they are so pants in the rain although if you like fwd 'drifting' they are awesome lol
