Next genre?
So...
Dubstep is dead...
And officially has been overdone now...
Just wondering what people think will be next?
A new genre? or maybe something coming back round again...
Seems to me its the old disco scene. Keep hearing some strange tracks on radio1...

None of the genres are new, its jus music sellouts listen to and all the students start listening to, they do the rounds of ruining music scenes.

You say that, but where im from everyone is just playing uk garage and stuff this summer. Ive stopped DJing 4x4 cause its just surrounded in BRAP BRAP ! PUT YA SHADES ON ! and all that shit. " THIS ONES A WOBBLER, PART 6 " tututut !
I prefer the more vocal, feel good garage, That only exists in uk garage. So i hope it does, Whenever i play DJ at a garage night i play UK vocal... never 4x4 cause it just kicks off.

Crack house. zincs been pushing it for a while and it's floating around the underground
dubstep isnt dead. your confusing it with cuntstep, aka the wobble shit filled with gay remixes, over engineered synths and ultra-spako snares.
american 'grime' scene is picking up. still very underground. basically british sounds with US vocals.
breaks are comming back and will be big
the 80's pop stuff is pretty large. i hope this comes back as good as it was in the 80s!
oh and, db_sax. UK speed garage has been making a comeback in the underground london scene too. different to the origional stuff, so not trying to mug it off which is good.
Plastician doesnt seem to think garage died:

Well ye it i play garage all year round haha. Mostly oldskool 2step etc. Dont talk to me about the bassline 4x4 new shit, i feel sick and just makes me think of chavs, havnt got a clue how they enjoy listeneing to that.
Steil some new skool garage being produced, Danny Dubbz, he always makes a decent few. Used to be a good site for ukgarage to buy from, but it aint live anymore. Some good productions, but i cant see it being as large as it once was. Especially further up north you go.

Thats good news then, only scene ive been following is grime but not in depth. As long speed garage dosent evolve into the shit that got popular last year.
Plastican used to make some good sublow garage, havnt heard much from him latley.
Got any examples of American Grime? Heard some of the european examples and quite impressed tbh with you. Watched a documentry on it last year, was quite surprising how popular the london grime scene is.
If UKG can make a come back in a similar style to what it used to be then im all for it

lol. that was my cousin. proper random night. didnt even know he was playing untill i got dragged out the house at like 11. not that i took much persuading
plastician played one of the best sets ive heard. all dub / old school garage & grime. gutted i missed him in manc and the times he's been at FWD
All i can say is; roll on this summers DMZ & tech:nology. two massive nights i'm looking forward too!
no US grime on this laptop, it's quite hard to find as it barely exists now, it's real underground. but theyve been getting into their deep basslines more lately. bass from tracks like DJ wonder - What.
I think crack house is absolute bollocks. but it's making noise in the underground rave scene. thats where it's at right now it seems
stuff like electro, dnb etc will never go 'mainstream'. theyre roots are too firmly dug in the underground over the past 25 years. so their safe from being disturbed
J-Tek (aka, jungle techno) has been making it big, my mate Outrage and DJ randall + a few other heads from the jungle era tried pushing it out. but theyve kinda been busy with dnb stuff lately
A J-Tek track made by a good friend of mine. played out @ herbal in london by DJ Randall (excuse the gay vid, nobody knows who put it to the track lol)

Oh and a dubstep track that mala dropped at the last DMZ. litterally tore the building apart:

dubstep albeit utterly shit isnt dead.
its still got a large commercial entity its just not the underground sound now.
Plenty of 'to cool for skool' kids involved though, it will go like dnb did after it had a big revelotion in the late 90s.
Expect alot of mashed up style to become cool mixes of coked up hippies singing (like lilly allen) mixed in with a phat bassline... wait a min isnt that dubstep

No running man, thats cuntstep
the generic "I've sampled a pop tune. added a massivly gay snare to it, then when it drops it'll have a boring wobble bassline with over engineerd synths over the top. I'll try and claim it as dubstep even though dubsteps completely different"
gawd i hate that crap

most proper events arent filled with chavs though lol
mala and loefah both said the only time they advertise DMZ is in the toilets of the club 1 week before. and on the dubstep forum. that way it keeps the chavs / pop music fan club away. It was the first ever dubstep night so the purists will always know about it, and it's always sold out.
I've never seen any trouble at a dnb night for example. if you attend the better events, theyre all filled with people there for one reason; the music - just how it should be everywhere imo
