reason i ask is im looking to move ISP as my current one has a max download of 50gb a month and its £28 a month... Will i use more who knows but i dont like not having the freedom if i wanted to without paying an extra £2 per GB after that!
BT infinity are doing unlimited downloads (ok i get there will be a fair usage policy) and reckon i can get 20mb download (sounds about right on my standard line they guess ill get 8mb and i do get that regularly) and they will do this for £28 a month as well.
Another problem i have is that my area is still owned by BT so i cant really get many other companies unlimited packages

Same issue with Sky here mate, its outside their coverage area so i need to drop onto their "access" package. Drops me to 20GB and its just as expensive

One thing with BT is that they cap speeds on torrents at all times of day (not sure how they do it but it works :-/ so if you use them a lot it will be a pain in the ass.

Sky internet are widely known as being shit Craig.
Scott if you're on O2 with your phone have a look at their internet. It was spot on when I had it!
Failing that have a look at Bethere. They're really good too as far as I know.

i have never had an issue with my current provider but im fed up paying when i go over my current 5GB limit (its an old deal).
Same issue with 02 mate, im a BT covered area thats not been unbundled or whatever its called so i need to drop to an access package on the majority of providers i have checked, this is often as expensive as teh full BT package and has a 20GB cap.

Sky was pants for me my speed was measured in K not Mb on the rare occasion it worked
Then went with O2 didn't really have any problems 3Mb max speed
Now got Infinity speed increased to around 20Mb, was told I'd get 33Mb (need to complain)
So now can actually use things like iplayer with out constantly buffering
But I don't really download a huge amount so can't comment on that side of things

With sky. Got a up to 2mb connection. Was getting 1.5mbps for 3 years on speedtest till I complained last week. Now connected at 4.6 mbps and getting 4.0 mbps from speedtest.
Happy with that (although I know it's still poor in comparison to the speeds a lot of people have).
Fuck paying per GB!!! I thought the worst they'd do is send you a fair usage reminder letter.. That's the only good thing about sky - It is unlimited. Well more unlimited than everyone else ! I assume fair usage still applies during peak hours but haven't had a letter (or download heavily to warrant having one) yet.
Back on topic: The people I know who are with BT are happy with it.. Not cheap mind. What speed are they "estimating" you can get? If it's rapid I'd say go for it.. Even if it's not - If you need/want unlimited you don't have much choice! (although BT still has a download limit of 300 or 500 gb I think?).

Im an impatient bastard so placed my order with BT an hour ago just waiting on madasafish sending my MAC code.
They estimate i can get 28.5mb download and 5mb upload so im pretty happy with that!
Works out about £41 a month when you add in line rental, however this now gives me anytime calls, mobile hotspots, unlimited downloads (300GB a month soft limit) and no charges if i go over this only throttling. Theres no danger ill be downloading that much.
Also if i look at my last bills for my interwebs i was £21 because of my extra downloads and my phone bill was $17 so im actually not far away from the price ill be paying anyway and ill actually be able to use it guilt free.

So is infinity a service that gives you fast speeds in areas that usually can't get good speeds?

Nein. It's bts fibre to exchange service. Still copper to the house but offers up to 40mb apparently. So it's only in areas they have upgraded to fibre optic

I think infinty is FTTC, so fibre to the cabinet which is closer than fibre to the exchange, probably about 100-400 metres away meaning less crappy copper.

Just an FYI.
Installation took place this morning. The engineer was very very helpful as my house has some weird wiring but he fixed it all for free and without making me bribe him
Been very very impressed with BT's service so far i must admit! Everything has been confirmed and reconfirmed by email, equipment arrived when they said it would, engineer arrived when he said he would and everything works exactly as it should.
Bearing in mind it was only just installed i was getting 22mb down and 5mb up so im very happy so far!
