954 cc and 1124 cc
1st===3.417:1
2nd===1.180:1
3rd===1.276:1
4th===1.026:1
5th===0.767:1
rev===2.500:1
final drive===4.286:1

1360 cc
1st===3.636:1
2nd===1.950:1
3rd===1.276:1
4th===1.026:1
5th===0.767:1
rev===2.500:1
final drive===3.765:1

1587 cc (vtr)
1st===3.417:1
2nd===1.810:1
3rd===1.276:1
4th===1.026:1
5th===0.767:1
rev===2.500:1
final drive===3.765:1

1587 cc (vts)
1st===3.417:1
2nd===1.950:1
3rd===1.360:1
4th===1.050:1
5th===0.850:1
rev===2.500:1
final drive===3.938:1

i ho9pe everyone finds this usfull and as you can see none of the boxes are the same although some of the gears are the same in different boxes,some you would not expect such as the 1360cc has the same 2nd(1.950:1) as the vts but the vtr has a longer one,odd but any way enjoy lads.don

I should get around to putting the speed/rpm/gear/wheel size calculation tool back on sax-p

Gear ratios are semi interesting I guess... you're right about the VTS v's 1360cc... BUT the final drive is different, which is what really matters.

How dose this ratio stuff work then because seccond gear is longer than third therefor when shifting from 2nd to 3rd it would be like dropping a gear ?

remember they're ratio's so take 1st gear

Imagine you're in first gear and your engine is at 3000rpm

the ratio 3.417:1 means that for every 3.417 revolutions of the input shaft the 1st gear will carry out 1 revolution.

so 3000/3.417 = 878rpm of the 1st gear

the 1st gear then drives the final drive (which is 3.938) meaning that for every 3.938 revolutions of the input gear (1st gear in this instance) the final drive will carry out 1 revolution.

so 878/3.938 = 223rpm of the output shaft to the wheels

if you're on 195/45/R15's and assuming it's perfect round...
the circumference is 1.75m

multiply by 223 (rpm of the output shaft/wheel)

give the number of metres done in a minute (389.9m per min)

multiply by 60 gives the number of metres done per hour (23392m per hour)

divide by 1000, gives the number of km's per hour (23.4kmh)

multiply by 0.625, gives the number of miles per hour (14.6 mph)

taaa daaaa

yes I'm bored.

bye.

actually it's a useful way to workout how incorrect your speedo is.

peace x
