downloading slow
right people, ive got a good laptop, and im running with virgin 20meg broadband,
yet now when i download, i only download at 100kb, when i used to be at 500kb, im using bitcomet to download.
ive done a system scan with NOD32 or whatever it is that i have lik norton, and it aint helped
ive been told something about ports being open, from streaming video's??? any ideas how to fix this??

Depends on the people / sites your downloading from as if there upload speeds are slow, then you can have the best download speed in the world but it would still be slow

yeh, but its been going on for a while now, my mate is downloading from the same site, its BTjunkie, and hes still gettin 500kb, hes on virgin 20meg and is only two streets away from me aswell
i complained to virgin about it before, and he made me do summit, that showed me open ports, and said that was the problem, but i dont know how to fix it lol

Do the test 3 times and see what you get. Chances are you're just downloading from shitty sources.
I get 1.14 mb/s on virgin 10mb from newsgroups instantaneously

Are you refering to torrent downloads or browser speed?
If your on about browser speed then get firefox and search google for 'make firefox faster'. Firefox is configured for dailup speed, follow the instructions and make it a lot quicker!

i got 16224kbps for download and 700 for upload

Its the time when you download too, at 10 am its going to be slow especially on a weekend, get to about 12 minight and mine speeds up right up till 6am
