Default PC died :(

I have a desktop PC which I use occasionally.

Last time I used it was around May or April and it was fine, a few days ago I started it up and there is no display on the monitor and a beeping sound coming from the tower.

What could be wrong with it?

could be the ram, could be the motherboard, could be the graphics card, could be the power supply, could be the bios, could be the hard drive, etc.

Sometimes If you haven't used a computer for a long time the hard drive can go a bit knaff.

But as said It could be anything. Common things to die on computers though are mostly the Power Supply and Hard Drives.

My dad has my old PC that I build over 5 years ago and in that time only a hard drive went mostly because it's in a place in my house that gets very cold.

Sounds like the powers fine, either ram or graphics card? Using built in graphics card? if not, plug monitor in there, try that. If its not that, open her up, and see if the ram is in properly, if you have 2 sticks of ram in, take 1 out, try it again..if no luck, swap them, try it again. Unluckly that they will have both gone. Cant be HDD, cause you would get the bios screen, and then HDD wouldnt load the OS.

Open the case. Find a model number on the big board inside.

Turn it on. Count the beeps, they will be either long or short beeps.

Google the result, most manufacturers have a 'beep' guide that basically will tell you whats wrong in beep terms.

Most likely faulty RAM if it is beeping mate

Check that none of the sticks have come loose and if you have another computer or some spare RAM around try that in there to see if it works

I've not read the replies because I can't be arsed, but have you tried taking the GFX card out and putting it back in? Mine did this recently.
