That's an awful lot of threads on your coilover conversion kit... i think you might be cutting them in half...

First time in ages I've managed to do anything due to the weather!
Got the struts off and one stripped ready for the threaded tube to be welded on. Martin welded this on for me.
Got the wishbones off to fit the polyrace bushes. Got one fitted, just need to do the other.
Also discovered that both the shocks and spring pans are going to need machined to fit, another pain in the arse.

I still hate gas-less mig At least it won't go anywhere.
How did you get the spatter off the threads?
p.s thank fuck you didn't upload a close-up of the welds!

Small tip try coving the threads in WD40 it stops the weld spatter sticking next

Yep, I'm sure.
16mm is fine, 32mm is better of course but it's not required.
My earth cables however...well I'm not 100%, but only time will tell. There's no heat generated when it's running.

Finally got the threads welded on! Springs also arrived. Just need the spring pans drilled to suit. Question is, do they get drilled to the diameter of the thread or the main part of the shock?
Also desperately need a c spanner. Can't move the adjusters by hand.

Small update, things are away getting machined and MartinObviously is fixing my ecu that he locked.
Also, these came today
Loads of other things have been done. My list of things to buy is now very small, however it's all expensive stuff now
Hopefully have the front end built up next week and can get to setting up the coilys.

Some actual progress made tonight. Not just pictures of stuff I've bought!
Provided I get time, will be back on four wheels tomorrow. Exciting times.

All fitted and working. Will need to take the front end back off to fit the strut top strengthening plates but was good to have a jump around in the car.
I did a of setup of the coilovers but really need to get it on some corner weights once the cage is in.
Feels really stiff and i'm happy with it so far.
