Check your licence plate!
Right oh, I've read through around 3 different posts the last couple of days about people receiving fines for "illegal plates" etc.
The police are clamping down on this along with the tape that goes over the plates to reflect the cameras flash *ahem*...
The police have called the scheme which shall be running "operation larch" and they can issue fines up to £1000 (for really bad plates) So to save anyone, if you think your plate is dodgy get out there and sort it... and clean it too
Just to let you all know to save any more threads, and to save your skin

In a way, it's very easy pickings. Visible plates on the front and back of cars blatantly in breach of the regulations. You all know the law, you can't expect the police to decide which laws can be broken with impunity, and which should be enforced.
The rationale behind Operation Larch is to identify vehicles whose owners may misrepresent their registrations to avoid speeding fines, drive off without paying for petrol, or possibly even find cloned or ringed cars. Ask Ryan21 if he'd like his coupe back - many cloned cars are caught this way each year.
Now imagine if your car was hit and the other driver didn't stop, you can't quite make out the number plate, it's been altered, slightly and it's just a little too small. You've only got TPF&T insurance, but of course, you'll be pleased that someone has showplates on, because they make the other car look really good as it disappears into the distance with your no claims bonus.

lol how funny.. and true about resources.. they should be putting the cash towards some nice roads for us! the ammount of potholes near me is beginning to creep up fast.. talking about that.. i found a perfectly SMOOTH about 10+mile long stretch of pretty much straight road with a 60 limit in the middle of nowhere the other day oh and no cameras! took my mates car for a speed test at the weekend was ace (dont mean to !) back to topic lol its a shame becasue those kinda plates really do set some cars off, tbh the standard plates look shiet anyway..
