Default Front wheels rubbing...

I've just bought my first saxo, amongst other things its been lowered by 40mm and has 16inch rims on it.
I was told that rubbing wouldn't happen and arch work wouldn't need doing but i think that the wheels rub when on full lock.

Any advice on how to combat this? How easy is arch work?
I will measure wheels to verify. It looks lower than 40mm but thats what the old owner told me.
Is this a mot fail or worse?

Thanks all.

what size tyres are you running? if it's 195/45 then change to 195/40. Any rubbing is an mot fail but depends on how nice your tester is.

You can either;

Fit lower profiled tyres

Fit wheels spacers

Or

Take out the arch liners.

I went for the last option, as i am down 50mm, with 16" on 45 profiles.

No scrubbing at all now!

Dnt take arches out its fuckin stupid! All the shit goes up the door and all the joints and stuff holding you door on will get covered in crap and every time ur girl gets in the car she says eeewwww look at all that shit! mate dnt do it! lol i have saxo and i had 17" on it and it wasnt lowered and it rubbed on full lock with any alloy wheels it will rub on full lock, soo now i got mine lowered 60mm with standards and i have put 16s on it and it still rubs on full lock, soo i put phat spacers on it and now it still rubs but only slightly, and ive put my arches back in and its fine. Spacers from halfords or internet simple cheap buy and will solve your problem.

Mine rubbed, so i took the plastic arch off and grinded away the all the metal below the clip holes. I also bashed the inside of the engine bay with a lump hammer, this give a few more mm space for the wheels to turn. It's sounds worse than it really is, honest.
