saxo just keeps overheating :S
my saxo vts just keeps over heating and it doing my head in- only had car bout a week and today just realised the radiator init is the the proper on as its smaller then my mates 106 gti , and by looking at it you can see where the top up bottle lid goes and its no where near it-
could it be the reason for heating and my tepmerature gauge is mostly always on about 3rd of the way up ?

well at 1st i looked over it with my mate ( apprentice mechanic) and thought it could of been the thermostat so we decided to take it out - and the was saying about an airlock so he done what he had to do to get rid of that if it had one- but theres hardly any change with it, still heats up 3rd of the way- on way home just now it was only on half way but think thats down to the rain keeping it a tad bit cooler , now not sure what it could be- could be the rad or mayb the water pump ? what you think ? also someone mentioned the head gasket could of gone ??

I had this problem when I got my sax
The radiator cap was the wrong one, went to my local car parts center, got a universal one for £5, sorted my problem

as said, try the rad cap first. if that cures it, great. if not it sounds like a head gasket.

just had a thought. is it your heater matrix losing water? try putting a bit of hose between the 2 engine points, bleed the system and see what happens. that happened on mine. first time it was the heater matrix, second time it was a loose clip and the pipe was leaking.

try changing the cap and what i said. might cost you about a tenner but it eliminates those as the problem and its probably cheaper than getting a head pressure check.

lets just say that it went in for its second service and a couple of days later i refilled the screenwash and noticed no ecu cover...
depending on how rich your feeling, give them a try. might be cheaper than a citroen garage.
