Default Trebor's Blue VTR Project

Hi everyone!

As I've been on here for a while and have now acquired myself a VTR, I think it's time for to create myself a project thread! As I've already had the VTR for a while and done things already this first page is all about what has happened. So here we go...

When I first got the car back in February (The black 1.1 is my first saxo/car):

After going from my 1.1 into the 1.6 8v, the difference in performance was amazing! Still to this day it can still put a smile on my face. I know it's not the quickest thing around but it's probably the quickest thing I can drive being a 19 year old!

Of course as a petrol head the car has to be modified! so the modifications are as follows:

The first 'mod' to the car was a K&n air-filter panel, I don't have a picture but I'm sure you can imagine what it looks like

The next modification was a new exhaust system, the weapon of choice was this Piper 2.5" system:

I'm was very pleased with it, it made a very nice note to the mid RPM range which sounds great when putting the foot to the floor!

The next bit was putting new front brakes on. I've gone for Brembo disks and Mintex racing pads (M1144 pads):

These brakes are a MASSIVE improvement over the stock brakes, They definitely make me stop the car now

The final current performance modification is a 4-2-1 manifold:

This meant changing the oil filter housing to the MK.1 setup. Though a little bit of a pain to fit, I am also very pleased with it. It's not made (or wasn't going to) a massive difference but it definitely makes the 8v engine rev more freely in the mid RPM range. It also works well with the Piper as it now makes a nice 'growl' when going through the revs!

Along with the engine mods I have also done a few other things. The first being a new stereo as the old one was s**t!

'Super white' bulbs:

Blue valve caps:

New gear knob:

And air freshener :

I also like to do a bit of detailing to the car:

Which brings a nice shine to the car!

These are all the current things that I have placed on the car so far. I still have many plans for it which include:
-Refurbishing the alloys and painting them white
-New dampers and springs (lowering 35mm)
-New badges and painting them white (rear badges)
-Interior trims painted white
-Straight through air filter pipe to make her breathe!
-A whole list of other bits and bobs!

Thanks for reading guys, tell me what you think and more progress is to come!

Good modifications so far. (except the gear knob)

A straight through centre section would finish off the exhaust nicely, and some white VTS wheels would look great on this IMO.

Looking good so far. Agree with the straight through, transformed the sound for me. Bee sting aerial maybe ? And perhaps some pressed plates ? Not too expensive and make a nice difference.

Thanks guys, I'll think about the straight through, I like the sound as it is. I could always just put the silencer back on if I don't like it anyway.

I don't like pressed plates on saxos much, I think just normal clear plates will help to freshen up the look!

The next upgrade will be new tyres as I've only got 1 decent tyre on it! This should help with the suspension mods be more effective. I was also thinking of just the vtr alloys being painted white, I'll think about the vts alloys!

There's nothing wrong with the original colour, I would just like some white alloys (vtr/s) to make it stand out a little. It would also work well with other parts of the car i'm planning to paint white.

Looks sweet so far. Great plans as well, crazy how high standard suspension sits. I got a posi as well and i'm going for the whole blue/white theme as well except not planning on spending big money on wheels. I plan to smoke the headlights as well, i think really finishes off the look nicely on posi. Some other stuff to consider that you could paint white would be the mirror caps and the citroen badge at the front.

Thanks matey, painting the front citreon badges white seems like a good idea! I always thought about just doing the plastic grill white but wouldn't think it would suit the posi very much. It definitely needs to be lowered though

Update time!!

The main update is new headlights that I have bought for the VTR. I have gone with angel eye's at the front and smoked crystal's at the rear so she currently looks like this:

I have also put on a 'TOW' sticker as you can see There are also pressed plates which are on the car as well. I am very happy with these light combinations and make the car stand out a lot more than it did! All it needs is a quick wash

Other updates include:
A new aerial:

This makes a small but noticeable difference! Once again very happy with the way it actually looks

New 'Citroen Sport' pedals:

I know these are not to everybody's taste but I personally like them, plus it's not like you can see them much anyway

As the drivers side wing mirror was missing a trim, a new one has been found!

It makes the car look complete which I am very happy about!

I have also got a Citroen tax disk holder:

A small item which makes a massive difference! It also looks like the VTR came from a showroom, which cannot be too bad when selling on...

I have also bought new rear brake disk and brake pads from Mintex:

I hope to put these on soon to make the brake combination complete and to make the front M1144's reach there maximum potential while stopping.

These are the updates so far, current plans are:
-Install the rear brakes
-To get a straight through air filter pipe (will be doing ASAP, any recommendations?)
-paint the VTR wheels white
-lowered 35/40mm
-painting the rear and front badges to white
-Bucket seats
-New steering wheel
-painting interior trims white

Thanks for looking guys, tell me what you think and suggestions are always a help to get the mind going for ideas!
