Nope doesnt have to be new! that pinkbike.com website looks awesome you can pick up bikes for like 400 or 500 and they are awesome bikes!! Do you reckon building bikes is a cheaper way then? this is my bike spec currently:
- i currently have a saracen X-cell jump bike (well its a cross between a cross country bike and a jump bike lol. because i had a raleigh stonefly cheap rigid bike years ago and i changed the forks to Rock shox jett cs and i changed the frame to a x-cell blue frame and i changed the handle bars to tioga DH ones and a Tioga DH cube stem and its got Tioga Factory DH front tyre and Maxxis High Roller XC tyre on the back. So im now considering changing parts on this bike to be more suited to XC over time rather than buying a whole new bike... alternatively i could buy a second hand bike on pinkbike.com the problem is i ride 3 times a week on road and 2 times a week (all weekend) off road xc and i also occationally (once a month or once every two months) want to go to trail centres and DH tracks such as (CWM DOWN - wales)
Please give me your advice it would be much appreciated..
Thanks

well you could get a descent bike of pinkbikes for 500-600 mybe then upgrade it later when needs be, and i would say its cheaper to build a bike on some parts, i built my bike up for 500 and i oculd sell it for about 850-900 buts thats becuase i got all my parts in the sale, look at chainreactioncycles.co.uk there have sales all the time i get all my parts from there, well i was going to say a sx trials but i see u ride road aswell so mybe a commercial meta 5.5 there are realy good bikes, just look around on pinkbikes u will pick up a good bargain

Commencal 5.5? looks really nice.. i see its front and rear suspension is that not going to take the pedal power out when cycling though on roads etc? or is it very stiff? how much can you pick those up for usually second hand? is there many around second hand?

are you looking for a hard tail or full suspension? i wouldent touch a kona because they are well over priced and ride like a bag of shit, marin are a good brand to look at, also look at ironhorse mk3 if your looking for a full sus, if your wanting a full suspension but want to ride on the road sometimes make sure the rear shock has lock out if possible, how tall are you? that saracen must be terrible for riding xc on!
