I've got really poor performance from my brakes at the moment and i no nothing about them. I had a garage to take a look at them and he they said saxo's suffer from poor brake performance anyway. my brakes are really poor if i was to buy a set of uprated disks would this help the problem? any help appreciated thanks

Well they are bigger brakes so yes.

If they fit, you could get a set of 206 brakes. They are an upgrade to the vts.

you could even go for a second hand pair of gti calipers, disks and pads, as im sure they fit, might be worth finding out, they will be alot better than the standard 1.1 brakes for sure

even VTR brakes are poo with standard pads in.

Chuck some EBC Greens in your 1.1 callipers and you'll be sorted.

A good set of pads makes a massive difference.

how much on average is it for a pair of these? is it better to get a full set for say a vtr/vts, ie front and rear? or will front be sufficient enough?

Front will be sufficient.

Between 30 and 40 quid depending on what calliper you want to put them in. thats for 2 pairs of front pads (ie, a set each side)

Just get standard new disks and pads and bleed your brake lines, tbh its only a 1.1 so you aren't going to need loads of stopping power.

fit better tyres. The main issue with the lower spec models is the massive weight transfer forward under hard braking as the suspension is very soft.

I'd still advise an upgrade to harder hitting brakes in tandem though...

VTR/S brakes WILL fit on a 4 stud car. Fact.

You need Calipers, Discs, Pads, Shorter Bolts and some brake fluid. Done.

Not know a mate that can get parts on trade price?

I got brand new brembo disks and uprated pads for the front, £41. From general traffic, Worth a look.
