Default recommend me a cheap satnav..

Im in the market for a satnav, Ive never owned one so dont know much about them but like the looks of the tomtom and the garmins seem like good value.

This is the one Im looking at as its cheap and looks like it does what its supposed to.

Whats the difference between the cheaper ones and more expensive ones? Surely they all just give you directions?

Any recommendations? Budget is as cheap as possible for one thats not going to take me round the houses so to speak.

Cheers

Danny

Ive used a TomTom before, and it is good value for money. However, whenever you get into cities it seems to sometimes get a bit confused.
Me and my girlfriend ended up straying into the Congestion zone in London and getting lost due to hers.

I dont know whether the more you pay the more accurate it is?

I bought this one http://www.ebuyer.com/product/165376 very cheap and if you search you can put TomTom software on it. I use it all the time and it has never let me down yet

iv got a tomtom one i think it's a good value for money and good for updating through the P.c lots of add ons and stuff and mines not sent me anywhere out of the way. but if you skint like i was i went to halfords got it on that take 10 payment thing as i needed 1 asap,i got the sat nav for £120 and paying £12 a month and the interest is only 10% so the 10% deposit you pay when you get it from the shop is the interest paid off first.

Totally agree, only down side is the battery life is poor ( 2hours max)
But its fine keeping it connected to the car/van

I use mine daily for work and it never lets me down

Edit: Like all Sat Nav's you need to use your common sense aswell. They wont drive for you & wont know what a mini roundabout is.

i forgot to add the link lol

was looking at something like this..

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Garmin-Nuvi-...960699&sr=8-19

would probably go for a slightly newer model though or that one in the widescreen for a tenner more.

Will check out the tomtom ones, think theyre a bit more expensive though

thanks for the link saxo_vtr (forgot your name) I didnt realise you were a mod btw or has this just happened as of late?

the one of the link was a v2 btw, Im assuming it would be better go to for the latest version? They both seem to be the same price which is always a good thing lol

Im a bit of a brand snob so cant see me going with the one on ebuyer but thanks anyway mate.

Tomtom seems to be where its at, though I do like the sounds of the Garmins, just something about the tomtoms that draw me to them though.

Have a look at the TomTom Start - you can get one for about £85. I used one today. Was fantastic little thing!
