I think you may have to change the drive shafts to non VT ones, not 100% sure though. You'd be better off sticking with the box you've got though.

i had a 1.1 box on my vts, with vt shafts, i wouldnt overly recommend it though, yes it will accelerate faster but i was sitting at 4krpm sitting at around 75mph was drinking fuel, the diff is smaller also, vt drive shafts are shorter than non vt shafts so there isnt a great contact between the diff and vt shafts

The ratio's off of a 1.1 and a VTR box:
1124cc:
1st:-3.417:1
2nd:-1.810:1
3rd:-1.276:1
4th:-1.026:1
5th:-0.767:1
Final Drive:-4.286:1
1587cc VTR:
1st:-3.417:1
2nd:-1.810:1
3rd:-1.276:1
4th:-1.026:1
5th:-0.767:1
Final Drive:-3.765
The ratio's are almost identical, and the only noticeable increase you will see is the rise in the cost of your insurance for declaring a gearing change 8-/
