Default Engine Knocking

Hi,

I went for a drive yesterday and my car engine is knocking. However when i open the bonnet the noise isnt coming from the engine itself its like at the back left. Could it be an engine mount?

Only seems to do it on Idle and all my oil levels etc are good. Engine is a bit tappy too but it always has been.

Any ideas?

Sounds like an engine mount but could be a number of things.

It's a steady slow knock on idle that goes when you rev. It's strange as engine is fine. Did an oil change about 2 weeks ago an Terence were no bits of metal in the oil at all

i would say make sure the lower mount is tight. and possibly check the exhaust isn't knocking off anything. i've noticed mine hits the gear linkage. just a thought...

mine only does it on idle which is strange. It sounds like its the left hand side engine mount so i may have them all changed. When it went in for MOT i asked for the lower mount to be changed but they said its almost new.
