Subaru BRZ/Toyota FT86
Well, at last they have been properly announced with spec lists.
Both cars are mechanically identical with a 200bhp 2.0 N/A boxer engine, rear wheel drive and very little over a tonne. You're looking at 0-60 in 7 seconds, 148mph and plenty of tail fun. On top of that, this has been built so that the current Impreza engine will drop straight in and bolt straight to the new gearbox too.
First up is the Subaru

Pretty much identical minus the rear wing.
Now the Toyota
And an already modified version
Now the bad news. The idea was for a £20,000 price tag but it's looking more like a £28,000 price tag although this isn't confirmed yet.
Personally, I'm quite excited as I can see these being £10k cars in a couple of years. Plus, there'll no doubt be a 300bhp STi version in the future.

The FT-86 only has 150bhp.
The JDM one is getting 197bhp.

So far no one has managed to realise what this is. How have people come up with DC5 when it's RWD?
What it is is a four seated MX5. I don think the lack of power will be to much of a problem with something so light. Only problem I see with this is the price. This car will only be a grand cheaper thn a 370Z which in terms of power and equipment, is miles ahead mins missing two seats.
And to the guy quoting 150bhp, they're identical and everything I've read has quoted the same 197bho figure. The only region difference is the name (FT86 here, 86 in Japan (can't remember the US)

All the press releases say 200bhp. Would be daft of Toyta to detune an engine already at 200bhp standard.

Not if they wanted to create a bigger gap between the 86 and BRZ in europe.
