heard a guy at work say exhaust would get banned?

No at the moment you don't need one as long as you pass emmisisons, they're making them compulsive.

As far asi`m aware there has always been a decibel limit on road going cars.

As long as they pass the decibel limit then yes,correct me if i`m wrong if anyone knows better.

depends how much of a cunt the tester is i suppose.
I always get the impression that generally the older testers dont really like it when you start modifying things like exhausts and suspension and usually seem a bit rude as though you've done something wrong...
Some testers will fail for being too loud. My car has a 4inch peco with a decat and is very loud yet doesnt seem to bother my mot tester at all.
Theres always been a decibel limit which police can catch you out on (depending on how strict they are round your way)

I also wouldnt mind knowing what the actual rule is, as i want to put an underfloor cat on my 52 plate vtr with 421 mani so its easy mot-time. havent they got to be type approved for newer cars?
